Tracy reminded me yesterday that I need "A Plan". Little did she know that this reminder left me facing a painful truth. I have completely failed when it comes to fulfilling my goal for exercise.
So I have come up with THE PLAN. After reviewing my crazy schedule, the only thing that makes sense is for me to get up 1/2 hour earlier every morning and hit the exercise room.
Am I really willing to get up at 4:30 AM? The real question is - How badly do I want this? To be continued. . .

It's just a half hour. You can do it. Hee Hee.... it's insane isn't it, getting up so early. I was struggling with getting up at 4:30 for work and finally opted for 5. I just didn't have as much time to dawdle.

Mom2Boxers - Yes - it is only 1/2 hour. Thanks for reminding me of that - Why am I making such a big deal out of it? I am such a wimp!

It's not really all that bad, I used to walk every morning with my neighbor at 4:45am, even thru the winter (except when there was ice/snow) and then came home to take hot shower & have first cup of coffee, it will really start your day out, trust me !

Buffy just had another thought, what do you like to do for exercise ? That's the motivation needed to get with a plan and stick to it ! When I still worked & walked very, very early with neighbor, beside liking to walk my motivation was knowing that she would be out there waiting for me. Do you prefer to exercise in the morning, at lunch, or after getting home from work. You said hit the exercise room, could you do your exercising first thing when you get home from work ? It has to be at least somewhat enjoyable, or make you feel good, before you'll stick to exercising :0 Hope this helps :)

Notfast - I believe you are right - it really would get my day off to a good start. Your other ideas are great too, but I am thinking that when all other plans fall through, at least I've gotten a few minutes in the AM to fall back on.

Buffy, I have to admire ANYONE who gets up at 5:00 am...and then getting up 1/2 an hour earlier?? OH MY! I do my exercise in the evening, usually while hubby is making dinner and walking on his treadmill (we live on a gravel lane, and since he is blind, it is hard for him to walk outdoors with me). Of course, we eat later than a lot of people AND I don't work outside the home, so that give me a bit more latitude as far as when I can exercise. Good luck and have a great Sunday!

PS- Notfast - I didn't really answer your questions. I love to walk but live on a busy country road with no sidewalks so I use an elliptical instead of the street. I walk at lunch time (when I get a lunch). If I have any energy after work I walk down to the garden to pull weeds. Of course the dog always is willing to play - LOL. But I really, really need to start doing my core exercises. Thanks again for making me thing about this.

Stef - I admire anyone who accomplishes what you do in one day - and then exercises after all that.

Stef - PS - DairyKing, GG-Girl and many others all do it. It can be done. Again - I have to ask myself "How bad do I want it"?

Wow Buffy. I know I feel better all day when I exercise in the morning rather than in the evening. But I'll tell you straight up I won't get up early enough to do that :)

Karen - So, if you don't get up any earlier how do you fit it in?

Buffy I think we have the same problem - I find most days after work the thought of exercising just makes me want to cry as I'm so tired once I get home and do everything else that needs doing....it is a continuous juggle. But I really don't think I can do the early morning thing - I mean I can barely stand in the morning never mind fully function to do exercise!! I think for me I just have to make three days a week where I put everything on hold for one hour in the evening and just do some exercise - I have found when I have done this I do feel good afterwards...it's just the starting that is hard for me....

You CAN DO it, and I'll bet you have fun. There's nothing like doing something for you before you do anything for anybody else. It's exhilarating.
