Okay. I'm going to try to write this journal entry without any buts/however/qualifications :)
Bolder Boulder this weekend! I ran the whole damn thing. My finish time was 1:28:01 and I'm very happy with that, I wanted to go under 1:30:00. The course was really great - loved all the Boulder-ites partying in front of their houses with beer and hoses and marshmallows. Especially the hoses. For the most part the course was pretty flat. There was one fairly steep hill at about mile 6.1 - so just as you're running up into Folsom Stadium to do your victory lap around the track that when I hit it, I really wanted to throw up. Had a friend who did there actually, but used all of my determination to help keep myself going. It was worth it. I would have been so pissed at myself to get that far only to stop/pause/walk in sight of my goal.
From 4.5 miles last weekend to 6.2. Part of me still can't believe I did it. I had these 3 interesting moments during the run. Once at the very beginning, one around mile 3, and then again around mile 5 where I really soaked in what I was doing and how far I'd come and how proud I am of myself for doing something I put my mind to that I was almost overcome with tears. But I shut those down and kept going. :) Emotions are funny things.
I had thought to stop at 6 miles (training wise) and start working more on speed than distance, because of course, now that I've run the whole thing, I want to do it faster (my sister did it in 48 minutes and I would love love love to be more competitive with her) but of course floating on the euphoria of our good runs yesterday, we both agreed to do the Rock'n'Roll half at the end of September. Going to really have to look at how I want to train for that. I think it means I'm not going to do a triathlon this year. But I'm okay with that. I'll keep swimming for cross-training and camraderie and will try to get back on the bike next year maybe.
So amazing fun weekend over. Took this morning off from swimming (but still did my morning burpees) and think that instead of waiting and seeing if I can do this without tracking food for another couple weeks, that I just need to follow the method that has worked for me in the past. So back tracking everything today. (Including my not-so-amazing breakfast - guess I need to get to the grocery store, I have no food at home). :)
So, to finish, official splits from the race are:
Mile 1 - 14:28
Mile 2 - 14:12
Mile 3 - 14:18
Mile 4 - 14:11
Mile 5 - 13:47
Mile 6 - 14:01
Finish time - 1:28:01

Just fantastic! Amazing. You should be very proud of yourself ... and your splits show you were very consistent and picked it up at the end. Awesome!

@peppymint - except for the half marathon in September, I don't really think so? I'd like to do an adventure race or an obstacle race, but usually find the challenge of putting together the team somewhat daunting. I am considering doing an open water swim, but have to look and see what's out there. I actually enjoying training right now (though that doesn't sound like me...) and giving myself some decent time between races so I can see some better changes in ability. And @Brant - I am, so much. In the core of my being I have this want to qualify it, even just a little, but a bigger part of me is just so damn happy with the progress I've made with my running that I won't let myself. I do agree that I think the splits make it even better, because being able to pick it up some. And now, I get to set new time/distance goals. :D
