Got some bloodwork back and I am really bummed. My cholesterol is up, my sugar numbers say pre-diabetic and my electrolytes always seem to be out of whack. I don't do the things I want to do becuase of my size and I can feel myself trying to slip into a depression - I am trying so desparately to avoid.

I had the same type of report last Fall - don't get depressed - get motivated! You can do this...it is not that hard once you make the commitment to change! Good Luck!

You are on here and that's a start. Once you start losing weight and exercising, you will start to feel better about yourself. You can take charge of your health! Get proactive! Get some fitness magazines and start reading about nutrition and exercise. Take some books out of the library and read them. Start walking daily or get an exercise dvd from amazon. "Walk Away The Pounds" is a good one start with if you don't exercise much. Find a good plan you can live with that will help you lower your cholesterol and lose weight. Good luck!

I agree with the advice HCB and Suzi161 gave you....you CAN do it! As difficult as it is, try to focus on the CAN in your life and not the CAN'Ts! You CAN journal and record all your intake, you CAN lower your cholestrol and gain control over those sugars. Support is always just a journal entry away. :). Good luck!

I am with you - we read almost the same as background - but to be honest I have a whole lot more weight to lose - heavier than I have ever been in my life. I too am pre-diabetic and obsess about it. I am just now deciding I have no choice but to do this - lose weight, get healthy. I need to do this for me - cuz I deserve to be healthy and happy. You have acknowledged you have a problem and you have started to do something about it - pat yourself on the back and congratulate yourself for making this step. Stay strong!

I'm there with you as well. I'm trying to get myself healthy and it's pretty much a do or die thing now. It IS indeed much easier when your committed, I agree with HCB. Good luck with whatever you choose to do. Are you putting in your food in your food diary? That has been a god send for me. It's worth all the work figuring out your meals when you see that scale go down every single week :D
