GOOD MONDAY MORNING!!!

I sure hope all my friends who are mom's had an amazing Mother's Day!! I did. My youngest, Jacob, and his wife, Annie, had a beautiful vase of alstromeria delivered for me and some awesome mums delivered for my mom.
They are so thoughtful. My oldest called last night and he and his wife will be taking me shopping the next time we get together. I am so blessed to have such wonderful sons. We went to mom's straight from church. Middle sis (sabsmith here on FS), went out and did the shopping for food and the flowers to plant in mom's planters. She is so awesome...I sure would have hated going to Wally World on Mom's Day, but not her...she went, she shopped, she delivered, and then we all pitched in and got the meal made. Brother mowed the grass, sab and I made the burger patties and deviled eggs, while sis-in-law prepared the trimmings for the burgers. We had burgers, hot dogs, eggs, chips (pork rinds for us low carbers), and baked beans. I avoided the beans and chips, as did both my sissies. I even had a beer! And I don't drink beer. The only bummer was that the Cardinals lost the game. When we got home, hubby and I did some planting around here, then we bbq'd some chicken. Our meal at mom's was early, around 3 or so. For us that is lunch, especially on a Sunday! It was a great afternoon, spent with some of those I love most.

It has been a busy time since I was last on here. The new lawn mower arrived, so I was able to get the grass mowed, which was quite the chore since it had gotten so tall. The new mower has some improved features and does a beautiful job. Got the trimming done, got part of the flowers planted, the pool is clear (after a couple of days of hand vacuuming) and is running smoothly, the concrete around the pool is completely bleached and power washed, and we decided to change the wild flower garden bed to a veggie bed, so that project is well under way. We have a nest of baby bluebirds on the corner of the house and I have been enjoying watching the mama and daddy take care of them. What gorgeous little birds they are. The hummingbirds are back. Got the feeders put out yesterday evening after one of the little guys dive bombed me, as if to say "Come on, get with it...I'm hungry!".

Today we are going to a friend's house to spend the afternoon and do a little fishing. Then home to do more planting. Other than that, things here are pretty quiet.

The food and exercise has been going along fine. Have been eating the things I should, trying to avoid the things I shouldn't, and keeping the steps up where I like them. I did order some zero net carb rye bread through Linda's Diet Delights website, along with some hamburger buns. We had a brat with a slice of rye the day it arrived (Saturday) and the rye is very good. Hope I am as satisfied with the buns. Now if I can just get a store to carry the bread, and the price would go down. lol Oh, well it is a nice treat for the times when I really want some bread.

Well, that's all the news that's fit to print from my corner, hope all is well in your's!

TTFN!

~Stef~

Your yard sound lovely and a pool as well. Growing your own veggies is the best. I don't have much room for a veggie garden but try to grow some tomatos and a bunch of herbs.

You are always so busy :-) .... Sounds like a great couple of days. I was listening to something on the radio today and it seems we are (UK) the only country that has Mothers Day in March!! Everyone else has it on the same day in May.... How stupid is that!!

Hi Stef, I love the way you spend time with the family, how wonderful, all of you buzzing around and sharing the cooking and the freindship and as for the fishing and the chores, no wonder you get all your steps in each day, i suspect you are really fit and by the sounds of it, truly happy. Regards to you all. xxx

FOL, the yard is coming along...I still plan to post some pics once I get it into shape. I am just waaaaay behind this year, due to circumstances beyond my control. We are going to work on getting the vegetable area ready today. And of course more flower planting. LOL Have a great day!

Sandy, I really liked the bread! I was so happy to find something that we can eat that is low carb (zero net) and tastes good! The rye was delish with the brat and Linda's Diet Delight site also had low carb instant potatoes, pancake mix...lots of goodies. I am going to order some breading mix next! Have a great day!

Pam, there is never a dull moment (at least in the spring, summer, and fall)! lol I did not know that about Mother's Day...wow. Well, happy Mother's Day to you anyway. Maybe you should start celebrating yours and the rest of the world's also, then you could have 2 Mother's Days a year! Have a great week!

Sazy, I am afraid that sometimes I take it for granted. So many people tell me that they don't get to do that, and I know in my mom's family, they are so spread out, that they don't get to see each other very often (dad's family too, for that matter). I do enjoy doing those things with my family. As for being fit, well, I am not there yet, but I am lot better than when I started this process. It is one that will be ongoing until I die, but that's okay, I am enjoying the ride! Have a great day, my friend!

Heather, I am so tickled with the mower, even though we had to replace the tire already. Tractor Supply took great care of me, and I will never hesitate to recommend them in the future! I did have a great Mother's Day, and am enjoying my yard work. More on the agenda today! Have a great day, my friend!
