I'm really annoyed that my coffee is costing me over 160 calories. I don't know if I can give up coffee, but I'd be willing to use an alternative drink in the morning that would be fewer in calories and still help me wake up. I use 1/4 cup milke in each cup and 3 tsp of sugar... that is .5 cup milk and 6 tsp sugar total. Such a waste of calories. I hate using up calories in condiments and liquids! I'm going to try today to not use up calories in condiments like mayo and maple syrup, although maple syrup would be better than sugar in my coffee. If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them!

Oh I am with you on that!! I love coffee too! As you said though the calories that it takes to have it like I like it were a lot. So now it is my reward when I reach a weight goal, and right now I am 9.6lbs away from my next cup. It creates a good incentive to keep moving. Specially as I sip my tea in the morning....I don't care what anyone tries to tell me: Tea just does not cut it. Now to lose that 9.6lbs so I can have a dark rich coffee with real cream and sugar...yummmmm.

RUBIE-SUE: Maybe if I slowly cut back on the sugar and adjust my taste buds that would work, but I sure do love a sweet and creamy coffee!

I tried that, alas don't like the fake sugar and don't like it blacker. But it does work out well to keep me going. The hard part is to keep it to one cup....oh two sounds so good. You'll have to let me know how it goes!

Do what I say, not what I do, lol. But... I've found I can slowly cut back the sweetners (artificial or real) and cut back the milk and train myself to like it plainer, over a period of time. I noticed over the last few months I reaccustomed myself to the extra sweet taste and was putting in 2 splenda instead of 1, more milk, etc. I'm trying to break that cycle again, have done truvia this week and less milk. Also consider unsweetened coconut or almond milk, a cup can be like 40 calories compared to even skim milk at 80.

I would suggest learning to like the coffee black- maybe make it weaker so you don't feel the need to put creamer in it? Or try some more expensive types of coffee that aren't so bitter- remember, if you aren't buying creamer/sugar/etc. then more expensive coffee really is any more expensive than buying cheap coffee and all the additional stuff Hope that helps!

WASSONC: I will definately do that. I want to get back into my arabica coffee beans again :) Thanks!!

I used to do the whole cream and sugar bit also, But one day a couple years ago my sister made up a rediculous number like 60 Kcal per creamer (I used 3 and sugar) and I freaked out. From that day on I have drank black coffee. Also I look at it as a Kcal free energy booster because I LOVE coffee. Also remeber every time you don't use it you lose that a tiny bit more weight.

GRETTA'S MOMMY: I think my best bet is going to be to start drinking black coffee. I will try the more expensive blends, like arabica coffee beans and train myself to like it black. It will take some getting use to, but I don't want to waste 160 cals anymore!
