Setting all negatives aside, there are so many truly wonderful opportunities for social interaction on the Internet.
Before the 2008 election I had the opportunity for indepth political debate with a writer who is a Vassar and Princeton graduate and published author living in Rhode Island. She communicated with me! A homemaker from Texas!
In the realm of genealogy and history I had the opportunity for email conversations with several published historians, history professors, and genealogists. Not to mention the new contacts with so many actual blood relations I'd never known before.
Today, I'm remembering a conversation with a bible translator working with United Bible Societies who was working on translating the bible into foreign languages (which must truly be a challenge). This man contacted me in response to my personal blog where I had stated my dislike of some word translations in some of the newer bible translations--not paraphrases, but translations. We ultimately agreed to disagree in part, but he told me he appreciated my perspective, saying I had given him food for thought. I certainly felt blessed on my end that he spent some of his valuable time to communicate with me.
Inspiration can come to us from anywhere, even from an opinionated homemaker in Texas, and even if it challenges what we believe since it encourages us to prove our convictions.
Enjoy your contact with the world from your little electronic window today!

Yeah, born and raised in Texas. Unlike Tanya Tucker's cowgirl, I know I'm going to heaven, but I agree with her that Texas is as close as I've been so far. Not all Texans will bragg about themselves, but almost all will boast about Texas. :) Which might explain all the misconceptions about Texas too. Hubby and I went on a Caribbean cruise in 1996 and we met a young honeymooning couple from New Jersey. They asked us what part of Texas is it where people can get big mansions for almost no money? That was amusing. Sounds like a tall tale some Texan might have spread. We had to tell them there isn't any such place like that.
