There is no way I burn over 2000 calories a day just buy jogging for 50 minutes, and doing an hour of housekeeping beyond rest. How are they caculating this? If this calculation is accurate, I'd be losing a pound every two days. This is why I don't use this website to calculating my intake and output, my metabolism is much slower than it gives me credit for. I have to eat perfectly AND I workout 5-6 days a week to lose weight and keep it off, the sad fact of my life.

They get these numbers from what an average person of your gender, height and weight burns doing these activities. So, some people will burn more calories and some will burn less. A lot of people that have been using the site for a while only put in actual workouts and leave other activities, like sitting or shopping, out of the total. Even then, it is just a guess and could be overestimating for you personally. I look at it more as a tool to track how changes in diet and exercise affect my weight loss.

I appreciate your input youngsturgeion, I came to the same conclusion of not relying on the numbers, but using this site as a tool to stay on course. I'm nervous of stepping onto a scale again since mine has stopped working because I fear that I may have gained weight since I haven't been exercising since I came down with the flu.

Remember that there are many ways to succeed with your plan besides weight loss. If you are generally feeling better and your clothes are fitting better, those should be seen as successes. The key is to not get discouraged with the small set backs. Just keep going and all the little successes will add up to big ones.
