TYPICAL MONDAY...
It has been one of those days...I got up this morning, intending to do a journal entry, while enjoying my coffee, then visit my buddies journals, then some shopping, a walk with the neighbor, then this evening a walk with baby sis, and finish off the day with a nice BBQ.
Well, I got up, made coffee, gave the cats their treats, the dogs their milkbones, and had just started reading journals when my phone rang. Mom had a rash that was very painful, which popped up overnight, and she wanted to come up so I could take a look at it. Of course, I told her to come right up, and if need be we would go to the ER here in town to have it looked at. When she got here, it was quite apparent that it needed to be seen by a doc, so we went to the ER. The diagnosis...shingles. Bless her heart, they are quite painful. The doctor prescribed an anti-viral and some pain medication. We went over to Kroger, dropped off the prescriptions, and did some shopping. We got back to the house at about 3:30 and mom headed home about 4:15.
I did get my walk with the neighbor in. Baby sis had asked me to walk this evening after she got home from work. At 6:15 I finally called to see if we were still on, and she said she had forgotten her daughter had a band concert.
While waiting to walk with baby sis, my youngest called. His wife's mom was found this evening by another of her daughters, very lethargic, almost unresponsive, and was rushed to the hospital. She has MS and had been doing very well. I am still waiting to hear from them. Prayers would be most appreciated.
Food has been great. We are BBQing tonight. Some chicken, pork steaks, and brats. We will have plenty of left overs for the next few days, that's for sure. Scale was up about 1/2 pound this morning, but that is pretty much how it is...down, then up, then down, then up, tehn down...feels like I am on a roller coaster! lol
That's about all then news that's fit to print from my corner, hope all is well in your's!
TTFN!!

Best laid plans.......... Ah well, at least you were on the move all day, and managed to get one walk in. Shingles is so horrid - and lasts such a long time... I hope she hasn't got it too bad. Praying for your sons, wife's mom is ok... Again such a horrible thing to have.
BBQ sounds good - hope that half a pound comes off next time :-) and you hav better luck with your plans on Tuesday x

I had shingles once. It's extremely painful. I will keep your mom in prayer, along with your son's MIL. It never rains but it pours. Your BBQ sounds so delicious! I wish I could have all that meat! I hope today (Tues.) is a better day for you. Love you!!! -- Bonnie

Oh Stef, I know your mom is suffering. I hear it is painful. Our clinic has vaccinations for that. I think about making that appt all the time cause I would hate to have them.
I feel awful about your daughter-in-law's mom. My heartfelt prayers are sent.
((((Big Hugs!!)))

Oh dear Stef...quite a day! Hope there are no major complications and that your Mom is feeling better soon. Good thing she has all of you so handy. Have you had Chicken Pox before? One thing that my doctor recommended for my kids' skin when they had the chicken pox outbreak was to soak in a bath mixed with Aveeno Oatmeal Bath packets. To my amazement, a packet of that stuff sprinkled into the bathwater relieved their itching a lot! Yes, praying for you and your family. And hope you do not give that scale another thought. You may be approaching your TOM or retaining water for some reason - keep in mind that water makes up 85% of our body composition, and its heavy!! OBVIOUSLY not gaining fat, not the way you keep moving!!;-) Keeping you all in my prayers. God bless.

I've heard that shingles is really painful, so I hope the meds do their job quickly for your mom. As for your son's MIL....well, I'm just learning a bit about MS courtesy of Neil Cavuto and Ann Romney both talking about it on TV recently. The unpredictability of it must be scary....hope she's doing OK now. Hope your plans for Tuesday can stay in place.

Pam, the scale was back down today. These fluctuations are just an everyday part of life, I just ignore them! lol Mom is on medication now, not sure about Jake's MIL. Have a great day, my friend! I am getting ready to head out for a walk! xxx

Bonnie, yes she was in a lot of pain. The pain meds seem to be helping her, though and for that I am grateful. It is so windy here, that I may get pushed around when I walk! lol The BBQ was delicious! Hope you have a great day, my sweet friend. Love and lots of big, big hugs!

Sandy, we have a prescription for mom to get the vaccine, but she needs to be well (no colds or flu) for at least 3 weeks prior, and she hasn't been well enough since we got the script. I am hoping that she will be well enough and we can get it done in the next month. Have a great day, Sandy. Hugs!!

Thanks, Bren. They gave her Vicodin for the the pain and Acyclovir for to treat the shingles. She also appears to have a urinary tract infection so she is on antibiotics for that. Hopefully she will get better very quickly. She is so brave and although she must have been in terrible pain, she didn't complain about it once. Bless her heart. She is quite a woman...hope you are having a better day. Love you, sweet sister-friend! HUGS!
