Friday....

THANK YOU TO ALL MY WONDERFUL FS FRIENDS...for being kind, patient, and for understanding when I retreat to my bat cave from time to time. I am not going to go back and answer the comments from the last week, but I do want you all to know that I read them all, and appreciate every single one of them, and more importantly, I appreciate and love all you guys. You help me deal. You know, I have been in this funk for the last week or so, and just could not figure it out. I thought it was this silly cold, but it usually doesn't affect me this way. I hadn't even "consciously" thought about what date it was, just was going along, wondering why the heck I was feeling so down. This time of the year is always difficult for me, so I think I tend to "ignore" the actual dates. I hadn't even thought about it being the 16th of February. That is not to say I "forgot" the anniversary, just hadn't been putting dates to days, if you get my meaning. My neighbor called me to go and walk yesterday, and although I just didn't want to, I did. I had been on the verge of tears for days and thought it would do me some good. While I was out walking, I got a text from Baby Sis that she was thinking of me....that broke the dam. So many of those old grief feelings broke free and I finally let this year's grief for Jessie go. We walked and talked for over 8,000 steps and when I was done, I was better. I came home, went to town, picked up some stuff for the furbabies, came home and checked in on FS, and made dinner. Time to move along.

Today I decided to try some Chorizo...not sure if I am a fan or not. Some of the mexican type spices can give me a headache, and I am feeling the beginnings of one. I can usually tell just by the smell if there are those spices in there, and I probably shouldn't have eaten it. But I have really wanted to try it, and I bought it, so am reluctant to waste any. Luckily it wasn't alot, and it wasn't very expensive. I am also not sure I cooked it correctly. I fried it, and it was kind of pasty, so I scrambled my eggs with it. It is really high in calories and one serving has 3 grams of carbs, at least for the pork variety...the beef has 4. That may be more than I am willing to use for something that is just "okay" to my taste buds.

The local farmer's market, Sugar Grove Growers, has re-opened for the year, and I ran by there yesterday. I found really nice cauliflower for 79 cents a head, got 4 huge portabellas for $3, and some other goodies. They carry a lot of Bob's Red Mill products and more and more low carb and s/f foods. I am hoping to get them to start carrying the Julian Bakery low carb breads. The closest store for me is an hour each way, and I just can't bring myself to pay $15.95 in shipping for a loaf of bread! lol

I ended up with almost 12,000 steps yesterday, and my Fitbit was cheering for me. I've never noticed that it does that when you reach your daily goal! lol I knew it told you to move when you were too sedentary, though. Guess I need to move more, so I get to see the good messages!

Tonight we are going to see middle sis' son play basketball against our high school team, and see baby sis' son play in the pep band. I think the whole family (all of us sibs, their spouses, and mom) will be there, so it should be a blast! Not sure how many of the nieces and nephews will be there, but we are going to have a giant cheering squad!!

Well, that's about all the news that's fit to print from my corner...hope all is well in your's!

Once again, thanks so much...love you all!

TTFN!

~Stef~

Hi Stef .... Just add a small amount of chorizo (and I mean no bigger than the length of your thumb) in a chicken casserole... Makes a huge difference. :-). I don't mind if you retrea to your "cave", as long as you come back to us x

Thanks, Pam...wasn't sure about the chorizo. I used a serving size with the eggs, and truthfully it was all I could taste. And don't worry, I will always come back...you all call to me like a "siren" to a sailor! lol

Love you too Stef. Sounds like a power walk to me! ;) Much Love.

Oh and by the way - that size is for 2 portions :-). Not surprised it was all you could taste - putting it with eggs. I use it almost like a spice - in very small quantities and usually with a tomatoe based casserole :-)

Thanks, Paula...I enjoyed the walk, the sunshine, and the visit with my neighbor...poor thing...she has been through so much. She told me yesterday that if she could have seen how much her life would be changed a year ago, she would have told her hubby to take the gun to her first...I was shocked, and honestly didn't know what to say, so I said nothing. :( Love ya, Paula!

Heather, thanks. Cauliflower is over $3 in the grocery stores here. I was so pleased to find it at that price, I bought 3 huge heads. I love the stuff, especially made like mashed potatoes. We call them mashed "faux"tatoes...lol I do love my Fitbit. Should be fun tonight! Hope your 30 hours stint passes quickly. Have a great weekend!

Oh, Stef - that's so painful. And I know exactly how you were feeling. So inadequet to find the words. Pls give that woman a hug for me...and while you're at it, perhaps she would like to join you on Sundays once in awhile. You have such a lovely church family, she would so benefit from just being around people who would love her, understand her pain, and be there for her. xoxo Much Love.

We all have those times where we withdraw so not to worry. I just went thru the same mood but yours sounds like its based in grief. A good cry can really help to get it all out. I love chirizo, but I love spicy foods. I use it in chili instead of ground beef.

Laurie I was so excited...I love it when I find great deals on produce, since we eat so much of it....I get almost as excited as when I get a great deal on meat! lol Much love and big juicey kisses back at you, my sweet friend!

Oh Bren, I felt so sorry for her when she said that...her life has changed so much in the last 8 months and I know how hard the adjustment has been. Sorry you can't eat cauliflower or broccoli anymore. I can't eat cabbage, it makes me very gaseous...but I love it!!! Sometimes when I am feeling feisty I eat it anyway! Love you sweet friend! Hugs!!! :)

FOL, my mood is definitely grief driven...I have a really hard time dealing lately. I had an afternoon long cry and I do feel better! Sorry that you have been dealing with the same feelings. Hugs....I do think the chorizo would be better with chili or tacos. Have a good weekend!
