I overate at lunch today, but I think I made up for it with exercise. Hopefully that will help keep my metabolism up and I'll burn off some of my fat.
Eventually, I want to have really low body fat so my organs will function properly. I think too many people in our affluent society have sacrificed peak physical health in exchange for overindulging pleasures. It's good to enjoy oneself, but it shouldn't be pursued to the point of being unnecessarily decadent. It's a waste of resources. That food that I needlessly ate could have nourished someone else. The cost of it somehow squandered because it could have been more wisely invested.
While asceticism is too extreme in my own philosophy, there's something to be said about the health- mental, physical, and spiritual- that comes from emulating the diet and physical prowess of a yoga master. As our souls are the drivers the vehicle of our bodies, we should endeavor to be good drivers.
