ZERO HOUR
That time zone between 3:30 pm and 5:00 pm is my zero hour - my danger zone! I had better have some reserve will power, a baggie of "restraint" (twoslow) an ice cold bottle of water, an apple, or some raw vegetables to crunch on. Otherwise I will totally cave!
Yesterday I arrived home about 4:45 pm after a hectic, up and down day. After school I had stopped at the post office, the bank, the pharmacy, and the grocery store. My plan was to grill some lean ground beef patties and to steam some vegetables. My husband had put in a frozen pizza and announced that he was going to eat the "whole damned thing."
I switched my plan, slapped some DELI HAM SALAD on TWO THICK SLICES OF WHOLE GRAIN BREAD, and gobbled the sandwich and SOME DELI BEAN SALAD mindlessly before doing both my Denise Austin and my Jillian routines.
Without those two thick pieces of bread - my weight MIGHT be down this morning. Then again - I did three (3) things right.
1. I did not have one slice of pizza!
2. I drank two tall glasses of water after dinner!
3. I did not eat a bite of anything after 6:30 pm.
TODAY'S MENU
B - Oatmeal L - Ham Salad on Celery D - Breadless Sloppy Joes SN - Apple WATER-WATER-WATER-WATER!
LET'S MAKE TODAY A DYNAMITE FAT SECRET FRIDAY!

I thought I commented on your journal this morning.. I guess I didn't... I'm glad you found some retraint... it always comes in handy... and Denise and Jillian are always good company... I hope you had a great day...

Oh, that is so also my danger zone. I have found that if I eat enough nutrient dense food (veggies, greens) for lunch and plan a snack it's not nearly as hard to get through that time of day. If I don't have a snack ready I will mindlessly jam everything I see in my mouth. Yesterday am I measured out 2 tablespoons of almond butter ( a serving) to eat with an apple during that time. Other days this week I've measured out a serving of hummus to eat with carrots. Plan a healthy snack you can eat before you finish cooking dinner. It will definitely help. If I don't plan that snack--all bets are off and I'm snacking and eating 1/2 of my son's dinner BEFORE I eat my own dinner. Restraint is important, yes, but planning ahead and making sure your body has enough healthy food will help more.

Try a teaspoon of natural peanut butter. It always curbs my appetite.
