erikag's Journal, 31 October 2009

This morning I did my first "long" run for the half-marathon training program--4 miles. It was great! It was a beautiful day after days and days of rain and it was not nearly as hard as I expected it to be. I could have gone longer, I think, which is good because next week is 5. :)

Happy Halloween!

Happy Hallowe'en back! Tell me more about your training. And what exactly do you do when it rains and rains?! Congrats on your running. Right now I feel like a lead balloon and could probably manage an elliptical tomorrow if I could just get motivated...we'll see. Have a great day tomorrow!

Long distance running officially starts at 5K distance. You went even longer than that, so you don't need "" around your long run. You're doing awesome. Good luck on the 5 miler next week. Out of curiosity, what's the farthest you've ever ran? Are you at a point now where every long run is going to be your new longest run ever?

/0, no more ""! Thanks for the encouragement. The farthest I've ever ran is now 4 miles, so yes, each long run will be my new longest run ever. Charting new territory here!

Wow. Great for you. I wish I could run. Just went for an MRI today--having knee troubles. Hope it's not too bad. Don't know what you got till it's gone. Enjoy your newfound strength!

Erica I really like your new picture with your boys. They look so cute. And I noticed you're so close to goal weight! You're doing AWESOME! Thanks for sending me the marathon link. I'm interested in knowing what's a reasonable amount of running spread over a week varying distance. LOL. I plan to arrange my days around the weather--wet weather on the treadmill and dry weather outdoors for longer runs. Aren't we blessed that our bodies can do this?
