mardee57's Journal, 01 August 2014

OK so I looked over my Calorie Journal and note that I have been under an 1800 calorie diet for weeks but much closer to 1500 calories and I gained weight virtually every week. So if this means that I have to restrict my calories to 1200 calories for the rest of my life (for now anyway)then that's what it means. This last 11 lbs. has been treacherous. I have analyzed all the possibilities, Cortisol, stress levels, exercise, water weight, menopause, sleep, vitamins, calories, protein, and I am absolutely at a loss as to what or why this is so stinking difficult! It is soooo frustrating. My issues with food is not going to beat me or win, I refuse to let this be my life and no matter what it takes I am going to overcome these obstacles. Please don't say that my body is trying to tell me something and it wants me to weigh this weight. The charts for women my age and height should range in weights of 118-148 so my goal of 132 is very reasonable. Anyway I'm done venting and as always your love and support is always appreciated...

I think it's great that you're within a healthy weight range. I would love to be in the "normal" weight range, which would be 159. You shouldn't be so hard on yourself. You've lost over 200 lbs. That is awesome! Have you been working out? I have to cut my calories pretty low in order to lose weight too (a 500 deficit won't get me to lose 1 lb. a week). We all have different metabolisms, so the equations don't apply to us all the same. So you may have to cut your calories lower in order to lose more weight. Then you should be able to increase them a little to maintain. You are so close to goal. Don't give up. You can do it!

Can you step up the exercise side and burn a little more rather than dropping calories? You have come SO FAR and I commend you for having that kind of dedication.

I am jogging 1 mile a day 5 days a week and walking 2-3 miles a day 5 days a week. and for carbs - The Institute of Medicine suggests obtaining 45 percent to 65 percent of your daily calorie needs from carbohydrates. Therefore, the fewer calories you consume during weight loss, the lower your daily carbohydrate goal will be. For example, if you’re eating 1,200 calories a day, aim for 135 to 195 grams of carbs -- and if your weight-loss calorie requirement is 1,600 calories daily, shoot for 180, but no more than 260, grams of carbs per day. Too the type of carbs should be considered most of my carbs are from good healthy sources i.e. not junk food but organic whole grains and fresh organic fruit and veggies. But thanks for bringing that to my attention I will look at the site you proposed also. Thanks as always for your thoughts and time... Mardee
