I didn't get to sleep last night until late, just wasn't feeling sleepy, possibly because the protein shake I drank around 11 pm was caffeinated which I didn't realize at the time - I thought it was just flavored mocha. I was able to sleep through once I went down for about seven hours. Took a half hour nap to catch up this afternoon.
Body fat (dehydrated): 21.6, way off from my usual measurement so I must be doing something wrong. Another pleasant day, not as pleasant as yesterday as the temperatures and humidity are climbing back up.
The Stamina Fold-to-Fit Folding Equipment Mat (84-Inch by 36-Inch) arrived. I've been putting the rowing machine on
the Reebok premium fitness mat to protect the carpet. That's not really what it's designed for. The Reebok mat, 72" x 24" x 5/8", has been a good investment. I've probably put more exercise time on it than any other piece of equipment I've gotten. If I keep putting the rowing machine on the Reebok mat, I'm afraid I will eventually tear it up. I'm going to deploy the Stamina mat as a base and then add and subtract the Reebok mat and the rowing machine as needed. The Stamina also gives me a little more room to flop around on and keeps my sweat off the carpet. The carpet is overdue to be replaced but since that's not going to happen I might as well take care of it.
I have made some progress in decluttering the bedroom. However, with the arrival of the Stamina mat, I'm going to have to do even more rearranging to make room. The mat is longer and wider than the Reebok mat so it takes up more space. Stamina says in addition to protecting the carpet from getting torn up, it keeps carpet fibers out of the equipment. I'm also interested in the sound insulating qualities since I have a neighbor downstairs.
Size 33 boardshorts arrived today. As I lose weight, I'm running out of shorts to wear. My clothes that no longer fit are eventually going to Freecycle, Goodwill or elsewhere, but I'm keeping them around for insurance for a while. I've been shuttling between 36 and 34 long enough to make cautious to see that my weight loss sticks. Even on a relatively pleasant day like today, shorts are better to wear than pants.
The Stick-e Balance and Exercise Beam (Grey) arrived. It's taller than I expected. It came with a DVD which is fine although I already have a complete workout in the Harvard Medical special report, "Better Balance."
I know I said fitness trackers aren't ready for prime time, but Amazon had a lightning deal on
a Misfit Shine activity and sleep monitor for $20, $80 off. That's cheaper than the pedometer watch I got at Walgreen's for $40. Lots of rave reviews on Amazon and favorable comparisons to the Fitbit and the Jawbone Up. It's a way to get my feet wet with activity trackers.
I installed a Monster Green surge protector which cuts off power to my electronics, TV, DVD player, Netgear NeoTV streamer, speakers, etc. when I'm not using them. Otherwise, they go into sleep mode where they still drain power. I hope that'll shave some money off my electric bill. I cleared out the rat's net of cables and electrical cords near my entertainment center, partly so that I could plug them into the surge protector, partly to make room for the equipment mat.
Forty-four minutes of rowing while watching "Justified." I started early in the evening because I wanted to get it over with.
