Another tip for this Tuesday.

I wanted to list the things that I think contributed to me meeting my weight loss goals in hopes that it may help someone else. And please remember, this is what has worked for ME, your mileage will vary. I will post one tip per weekday.

Tip 4 of 25

Drink lots and lots of water. (Multiply your weight in lbs x .6) This is minimum ounces of water you should drink daily. My calculation falls at 102 ounces per day. (170lbs x .6 = 102oz) I am usually closer to 150oz. Re-mineralize your purified water by adding natural sea salts. There are tons of benefits to drinking enough water. Google them!

I hope you all have a great day.

natural sea salts? Never heard of it. Does it taste salty? What is the benefit? I agree with chesgreen, these are great tips and are helpful for anyone starting on this journey but are also very helpful reminders for those of us who have been here a while.

This tip is especially useful if you eat a clean diet and do not get many trace minerals from foods. I hear that pink Himalayan salt is one of the best to use. I not sure what kind I have right now. New Zealand, I think. I also have some Hawaiian sea salt. Most bottled water has all the healthy minerals filtered out of it. It is just a wet liquid. By adding the sea salt to your drinking water you add back a bunch of the trace minerals that have been filtered out. The ingredients of pink Himalayan salt include: actinium, aluminum, antimony, arsenic, astatine, barium, beryllium, bismuth, boron, bromine, cadmium, calcium, carbon, cerium, cesium, chlorine, chromium, cobalt, copper, dysprosium, erbium, europium, fluorine, francium, gadolinium, gallium, germanium, gold, hafnium, holmium, hydrogen, indium, iodine, iridium, iron, lanthanum, lead, lithium, lutetium, magnesium, manganese, mercury, molybdenum, neodymium, neptunium, nickel, niobium, nitrogen, osmium, oxygen, palladium, phosphorus, platinum, plutonium, polonium, potassium, praseodymium, protactinium, radium, rhenium, rhodium, rubidium, ruthenium, samarium, scandium, selenium, silicon, silver, sodium, strontium, sulfur, tantalum, tellurium, terbium, thallium, thorium, thulium, tin, titanium, uranium, vanadium, wolfram, yttrium, ytterbium, zinc and zirconium. Basically everything you can imagine!

Thanks for the tips. Very helpful! And, you are absolutely right about the water! I drink quite a bit more than that but I've always been a big drinker :-) The benefits of drinking plenty of water are huge and not just related to your weight. It also helps your skin and kidneys too. And if you are eating low-carb, it is a must to increase the water intake because your body dumps so much of the water it was holding on to.

Thanks Brent. Where do you get that type of salt? Health food store?

Alexzwk, you can get pink Himalayan sea salt at Walmart. I don't know quality differences between that and any other. It is NOT iodized.

I have been drinking about a gallon everyday for a few weeks. I really feel a difference. I see a difference in complection and in my eyes. I still feel thirsty some times and think I may even need a little more. by your calculation I only need 90 but im getting more and loving it.

Thanks. I normally drink dasani, or smart water or the sams purified water. Maybe adding some of that salt to it would help.

Excellent tips, keep 'em coming. I always do better when I drink more water but often I don't drink enough of it. I find that it's not easy to do unless I'm intentional and make it something that I think about with purpose.

I like to drink alkaline water.

This is a tip I needed today as my water intake has been pretty low. I usually drink distilled so I need to start the re-mineralization process immediately. Will do a test with the Himalayan salt I've seen floating around the house.

Distilled water is actually BAD for you unless you remineralize it. I cant remember why, but when I was researching this I found a bunch of sites talking about it.

Yep, I’ve read some not so great things about distilled water too. I’ve read that it’s good because of its “purer” form but I guess for the same reason that it is used for cleaning it can also have the same effect on the body. Unfortunately it does not distinguish between what you need to keep and what needs to be cleansed. So that is the necessity of the re-mineralization process. Which I don’t do so shame on me. That’s probably why I feel like poo.

I never new that. But is purified water the same as distilled water? I know the Dasani adds minerals back into the water but I am not sure about the other stuff. But does it taste salty when you put the salt in it? And how much do you use?

health food stores also sell trace minerals you can add to your water. not to expensive either.

I was drinking spring water because of it being so natural...it doesn't have the best taste and I really have to force myself to drink water anyway...I would love something with a little more flavor!

Distilled is what that has been extracted from impurities by boiling off and collecting the water/steam. Purified through a filter is good. I'm lucky. I live where there's still decent water.

Alex, the water will only taste salty if you add too much. It's hard to say how much I use because I usually just put two large pinches of salt into my 50oz bottle. This is one of those experiment things for sure. I dont mind it a little salty tasting, as long as it does not taste like the ocean!
