First I want to address something that confuses me. I got an email notifying me that muffinsmama requested me as a buddy. I immediately logged into FatSecret but could find no notification for that. So I sent a buddy request to her but haven't heard anything yet. I just want muffinsmama to know I'm not dissing her request. It's just that I'm too stupid to figure out how the site handles this.

I'm here for ya mama! hahaha

So, the family picnic went well. I didn't eat near as much as I thought I would but did have about 2-3 tbls of 5-6 different high carb items, (potato salad, pasta and the like) Also about the same amount each of 2 desserts. Hot dog in a bun w/sweet relish. I was filled and couldn't go back for seconds.

Didn't mean to tempt anyone. Just trying to be honest about how far off my diet I went that day.

I was very surprised by my blood glucose readings. It was 262 when I got home 4 hours after eating. Four hours later I still hadn't eaten and it was 253. Yikes! The next day, first thing in the morning, it was still 186. I ate breakfast, no lunch and when I got home it was somehow 192. Dinner was ready an hour later and it was 182. I napped and then forgot to check it before a snack of 1c. of mashed cauliflower with a pat of butter. That was 10 minutes ago. It's now 182.

I don't know what any of that means. It seems that my body is not bringing down the sugar level very quickly. Or, it's to be expected. I just don't know.

Good thing is tomorrow I have an appointment at the VA Clinic for a group diabetes class(?) (seems they called it something else). So I hope to get some answers then. I'm sure they'll tell me to take my insulin I haven't been taking. But I did eat according to my diet and at the end of 2 weeks my sugar was 128 first thing in the morning. I expect to get back there again and then continue.

If I can have my sugar level in the 130 range first thing in the morning, what would it be if I took insulin at bedtime? I'm afraid it would be 30 or something. I'll find out.

I'm really glad the picnic is over and really wish it hadn't come so soon after I started my diet and really, really wish I'd have just stuck to it through the picnic three days before the diabetes clinic appointment. I felt I really had my sugar under control until then.

Oh well, today's another day and I'm back on track and plan to stay there.
