NowIunderstand's Journal, 28 July 2014

Krytyanne3 recorded a journal entry which commented on how much work dieting is.I couldn't agree more. Between the buying, washing, slicing, cutting etc, I find it's a tremendous amount of work.

Then my son came home with a Subway sandwich. And, I remembered Jared, the Subway guy who lost and incredible amount of weight by eating nothing but Subway for a year. I'm quite tempted... they're are no less than (2) Subway restaurants near here in less than 8 min walking distance.

That would be such a nice break. Having all meals prepared.. I'm just concerned about the nitrites in the food.

I was astonished to see the commercial about Subway kicking out high fructose in their bread. I didn't even know they had it in the first place. Kind of ticked me off. I mean their bread is baked on the spot.

Well, it's something I'll consider doing. I know it's a lot of bread ie carbs, but Jared lost weight.

Well see! I'll let you know. I'll share the experience if I do do this.

Diet Calendar Entry for 28 July 2014:
2148 kcal Activities & Exercise: Swimming (moderate) - 35 minutes, Resting - 15 hours and 25 minutes, Sleeping - 8 hours. more...

What happens when you get tired of the cold cuts? It's a thought but down the line, it won't last. Besides we are getting older and Jared is still a young man who can afford to eat all that nitrates and sodium. We have to watch what we eat now. It seems everything we eat now causes a problem. You will only end back up where you are now once the weight is gone, you will be sick of cold cuts, and you will have to learn to cook real foods like you are doing now. Now, is putting you in practice for your continued success in the future. While the road seems like it is ions away, it is within reach. You just have to stay focused and "DO IT." There is no shortcuts when it comes to dieting. We have to remember we did not gain the weight over night and it is not going to disappear in our time schedule. It takes hard work, guts, and shedding many tears to say, I had to work my butt off to get to goal. I think if you stick to your guns, stay focused and make conscious decisions when temptations comes around, you to make a healthier choice that you will be at your goal weight by the end of 2015. If you gave yourself anything less than 1 year, you most likely won't succeed. YOU CAN DO IT...Before you know it, it will be 2016, and you will wonder where the year went. We are all in this thing together. We can call each other the "struggle sisters." Anyway, please think about it. I am sure others feel the same way I do.

When I lost the weight in my 40's I was a subway addict - I could spot their sign miles away. They can be convenient to point and select and have your sandwich put together but there are so many deli's w/all the produce chopped, bagged and even sliced I'd be a little more trusting of the hygiene of that food. I'll get tired sometimes thinking 'I want some veggies, I just don't feel like processing a head of cauliflower... so I will buy some already donel My downfall with Subway was the bread - spiked my blood sugar too much.

We stop a Subway from time to time when fast food is the best available option. It certainly isn't the most perfect meal, but I can manage my options there fairly easily. That said, I wouldn't want it as a regular diet. I agree with FullaBella - I do think there are a lot of options available that are somewhere in the middle between spending a lot of time washing/slicing etc and having Subway for an extended period. Perhaps pre-prepared salads a couple times a week? As Bella suggests, buy some of your veggies already cleaned and cut up. Or use frozen veggies! I've cooked frozen broccoli for just a minute or two, shocked it in ice water and eaten with a low cal ranch dip. Cook a few chicken breasts in the crockpot one afternoon and have chicken available for lettuce wraps, salads and just munching when you feel you need a protein. Test drive some lowfat cheese sticks or Laughing Cow cheese and make your own veggie/cheese plate! And my own personal secret -- I look at other members foods for the day and think "hmmm...that sounds tasty. Wonder how I could do that quickly!" Yes, Jared did lose weight. Google Jared's subway diet plan and see if that is TRULY what you want to do for weeks at a time.

C67241 is right Monique. You can't afford to eat all that sodium and simple carbs. Also there are not enough vitamins, iron and calcium in sandwiches. Staying healthy is the most important part of dieting. You will get nothing out of being thinner if you get sick.

@C67241 - No less than a year!!! I've got 30lbs to lose. It can't possibly take me a year to lose them. It took me 6 months to gain 15!!! I pound a month! no way! Finally, I'm going to follow the Weight Watchers plan. My sister has the book, and I think they have a very steady weight loss success. I don't have 'temptations' so I'm alright in that respect. I don't 'crave' cookies, cake or anything. My problem is maybe portion control, and eating when anxious, and grazing like a cow...lol I wouldn't be able to cope with a pound loss per month. I'll be continuously disappointed. I want to see results for my actions. I just need some tweaking in my action plan. Well, the Subway idea is out. Sometimes, I just play with ideas. I don't trust the nutritional value with all of the sodium and especially the nitrites. I don't really think it's a healthy and wholesome switch. I'll find my way. I'll go with the Soylent food...lol thanks everyone. I feel I've wasted a bit of your time, as I wasn't that serious about it. It was just a thought more than anything else, and some venting. Sorry about that! Take Care!
