I was successful in increasing my activity. Last week I rolerbladed at the park over lunch 3 days, and the other two of the work week I walked. At home in the evenings I managed to get one or two walks in, but I am so dead tired by the time I drag myself home. I've also thought about getting up early to walk or otherwise do something active, however sacrificing sleep to do so seems like it would be counterproductive to the goal of being healthier, and I seem to remember reading that insufficient sleep contributes to weight gain, so I have not pushed myself to do that. This weekend was spent doing a lot of work. My kiddos and I made a trip to the library and then to the thrift store for $1 bag sale. All of them need new clothes, and I'm finding it's time I need new slacks for work. I was pleased this morning to find that a stretchy pair of size 8's will fit me without making me feel like a sausage stuffed into an undersized case. Regular slacks I can now (mostly) comfortably fit back into a size 12.
After the thrift store and library, my husband and I ran errands in preparation for a home improvement project, and then we got down to installing a drainage system on the back corner of our house where the dog run is, laying gravel in the dog run, and building the puppies a new dog house. I spent a lot of time runing a shovel, moving gravel, swinging a hammer, and pushing a wheelbarrow. Yesterday morning I fought with myself to get out of bed instead of sleeping in. And then fought with myself while having coffee with cherries and cashews to make myself pick an activity. I ended up going for an extended walk, expanding my route to include another challenging hill. I still have a ways to go to get to my goal, but I am pretty pleased with myself this morning.
My husband is expecting a good sized check soon, and for our wedding anniversary I asked for a year's membership at the small gym just five minutes from our house. He wants one, and wants to start working out too. YAY!
