jmb3450's Journal, 28 July 2014

I'm back to work this morning, 2 weeks away seems like forever when you come back and try to start getting caught up and sort out what's going on. On week to go until we begin setting up computers and point-of-sale equipment in schools so rushing now to pull everything together, finish imaging computers and have equipment and materials ready to train our set-up techs on Friday.

I was in line with calories yesterday but ate way too many carbs, that along with lots of excess sodium over the weekend showed on the scale this morning, up about a pound and a half since Friday. But back to "normal" if there is such a thing this week, I expect to have the water flushed out of my body tomorrow. Wasn't able to get much exercise over the past 2 weeks so I'm looking forward to getting out and doing my walks again this week. This afternoon is my wife's first physical therapy session outside the house, we'll talk to the therapist about getting an exercise bike at home for her to use. I'd benefit from it also, I like biking so I'd be more inclined to use it also than the elliptical machine we've got.

Let's make it a good day.

Look at it this way. You're going back to work for a vacation.

Well I have to say it does feel good to be back to work. Too much sitting around the house for me the past 2 weeks. But it wasn't much fun for either of us. My brother owns a condo on Ocean City MD, maybe sometime in Sept. or Oct. my wife and I can get away for a long weekend, that would be nice.

Work day - work week routines are great for structure. My husband and I retired in May of 2013 and I LOVE retirement but sometimes I DO miss the structure. Have a great day and a great week!

You probably need this little diversion to get your mind off of things and back to concentrating on refocusing. You wife is going to be fine, and I believe that within the next 2 weeks, she will be doing things that she thought she'd never do again. While it is "slow," right now, with her keeping up with her exercise outside of PT, she will make a lot of headway to getting her life back to normalcy. The bike would be excellent for you both and that is a way to spend more time with each other while both of you are concentrating on getting healthy.

Teacher, as I get closer to retirement I think about what it might be like not having a structured day. Good in some ways, possibly not in others. The structure of a work day is a good thing, I think that I'd need some structure and routine in the day. I'm a person of many interests and hobbies so as long as my health remains good I should be able to keep myself busy. But that's still probably 9 years down the road.

Thanks Linda. I've been trying to encourage my wife to keep focusing on the long term benefit of this surgery and not the short term pain/discomfort. Easy for me to say as I'm not the one who had the surgery. But each day she's doing better at this point.

Welcome back Jim. Nice progress in the last 30 days and overall.

If she needs to talk, have her PM me. I'll tell her the benefits of having the knee replaced while going through the post-op discomfort and physical therapy.

Thanks Kathy, I'll tell her that. Hi Ches, thanks! I'm getting there slowly but surely.
