ammittai's Journal, 23 July 2014

I'm not sure why I am even bothering to write this as no one ever responds, but I hit 15 pounds today, over 6 weeks. So that is an average of 2.5 pounds a week. I think I can live with that, although sometimes I wish I was losing faster. I have only gained back once during that time and that was when I really overate for a couple of days. I am trying really hard to keep my calorie count down without depriving myself, by I feel very alone here. My SO acts very understanding but then keeps offering me junk food and high calorie foods.
245.0 lb Lost so far: 15.0 lb.    Still to go: 105.0 lb.    Diet followed 100%.

I think that is awesome 15 pds in 6 weeks. I am back on the wagon again. I leave and blow the site off becasue I also feel like no one response with encouragement or advise. I know how you feel. I am looking for supports as well and that is why I joined this site to begin with. Today is the 1st day I actually received a couple of support buttons on my weigh in. I feel alone and I can not talk to my husband because to me he is emotionally abusive about my wt and wt lose. So I am sending you a message of support.

That's terrible! My SO isn't abusive, just clueless. I will keep an eye out for your posts and if you need encouragement when you are down post to me.

I for one am glad you did write this post. That is fantastic news on your loss. I am very sorry that you feel alone on here, I honestly do not believe that is anyone's intention to make you feel that way. I know it has never been mine. You are doing such an amazing job, you should shout it out to the world, don't let others rain on your parade. (I mean that in a good way). Cheers to you !!!!!!

Thank you both. Although I feel proud of what I have accomplished so far, it feels good to have someone else acknowledge and encourage it once in a while. :)

First I have to see a post. Then I tend to support those whose starting weight is high and their goal is 50+ pounds. I really have no sympathy for someone who weighs 150 and is looking to lose 15 pounds. They don't need me. They just need to cut out junk, alcohol or get some exercise. Those of us with real problems are my focus.

Regardless of weight and how much someone wants to lose, I support anyone who is trying to make themselves healthier. You are not someone I would care to have support me anyway with that sort of attitude.

That is AWESOME......15 pounds in 6 weeks!!!!! I wish I could lose 2.5 lbs a week. My weight loss is much slower, so my hat's off to you!!!!!

Can't support everyone, have to pick and choose. I find those who need to lose more are those who need the most support and often don't get it. Your choice.

Any weight loss is good Cathy! Keep at it! Mine is an average, I went 2 weeks without any loss at all and then lost a bunch all at once, but I am looking at it in long term averages so I don't get too frustrated when it doesn't come as quickly. We just went out and bought a refurbished Wii and Wii Sports so that we can get some activity when it is too hot and/or smoky for me to be outside walking, so hopefully the extra exercise will help me keep my averages up :)

I agree 100% with you Ammittai !!!! Slower is sometimes better Cathy1211, so don't let it get to you. As for msbuggirl, you are very much in titled to your thoughts and feelings, but in my opinion I think you went about that all wrong.

Great job! 2 pounds a week or so is the kind of weight loss that is healthy and actually stays off! As for not getting support, I only read what is on the "featured" page. I've been here like 2 years and only ever had one journal entry that was "featured". I know there are groups here, though I'm not familiar with how that works. But maybe they would offer more support?

Great job! I struggle with my S.O. doing the same thing. He hit his goal weight months ago and is more in maintenance now.

good job. I understand the support thing. I know Im terrible at it but I don't understand how to even get back to my own posts to see if anyone has responded. lol. I just read the list that runs on going. maybe we need to teach eachother the tricks of the website. not just calories. lol. keep up the good work. 2.5 lbs a week is 10 a month. you will be where you want to me in no time.

If you want somewhere you can check in regularly and get support, you are welcome to join the Progress, Not Perfection group.

I'm really impressed with your food diary. It looks like you eat a variety of foods but still seem to stay so low in calories. when I feel like giving up, I study food diaries. How do you manage throughout the day? How have you maintained the low calories so many days in a row? I'm having a tough week resisting.

Good job on the weight loss. Im sorry you feel there is no support on here, I feel the total opposite, sure people dont comment on my posts a lot but I get the support by seeing we are all struggling and I am not alone in my up and down days, I would love to lose 15 pounds in 6 weeks but I am old and my days of good metabolism are gone, every day is a struggle for me. I would recommend you join a group or start a group because groups are good for support

Congratulations with your great loss, I am not sure what diet plan you are on but with Atkins they say a slow loss is the best because that way you are sure to maintain when you get to your goal weight....I have lost 20.8 lbs since May 25th and feeling real good about it....I am on Atkins and they say 1500 to 1800 calories per day on OWL (ongoing weight loss) phase 2...to me this is a lot of calories and I have a hard time getting to 1200 which I put my RDI at. I find the support and encouragement on here is over and above what I expected. They are a great group of people all struggling for the same goal, to be healthy and loose the weight for many different reasons...so feel free to comment and ask any question you want, there will be someone who does know the answer or willing to give you their opinion on how they see it....we are here for each other.. Good luck with your journey and welcome to the FS family...<3

I'm so glad you made the comment that you weren't sure anyone was even listening. We may not be commenting but if a lot of people are like me, I still read up on people's journals, learning so much from the ones that are losing. I'm super proud of your performance!! 15 in 6 weeks! Celebration time! If you want me for your buddy I'll be sure to see your notes more often. I'm not much of a role model yet. But I'm not giving up either. I'll send you a request.

Just to clarify, I meant that I feel very alone here at my home as no one here really seems willing to encourage or even ask about what I am doing. I understand that 90% of the posts never even make it to the featured page. You don't know how much it means to me that so many people have responded and encouraged me, thank you all. Notlivingonramen, thank you for the idea for a group to join, I will look into that. Lynch, I am not sure that what I am doing will work for you as I was never a really big eater, just eating the wrong things. I have been trying to reduce my portions of higher calorie foods and replacing them with lower calorie foods. When I feel the need for a snack, I have discovered Smartfood Delight White Cheddar Popcorn. It's air-popped and you can have 3-1/2 cups for only 130 calories. If I need sweets I started buying Blue Bunny Sweet Freedom ice cream and sugar free gummy bears. Just a little bit will satisfy me now, and it lets me know if I overdo it! I think having to write down everything you eat and figure out the calories for all my home-cooked meals has gone a long way toward making me think about what I am eating and whether or not I reaaaally want that Twinkie.

for a sweet. take frozen berries (I freeze what I don't eat before they go bad) anyway take berries. 1/2 can fresca and blend. might need to add some ice to a smoothy. always kicks my sweet tooth and is good for you.
