djl531's Journal, 22 July 2014

My office is trying to kill everyone with the crappy food they put out. There is always a stack of junk food in the most conspicuous places such as next to the unit printer. Fridays are the 4 boxes of donuts, apple fritters and kolaches (sausage wrapped in biscuit dough). I wish I could upload the pic I just took, but here is the inventory of high sugar high fat treats:
All Little Debbie brand: oatmeal cream cookies (2 boxes), iced gingerbread men, blueberry muffins, banana pudding rolls, pecan spinwheels and a 7th box of something I can't see in teh pic. Ok, there is also angel food cake. Scattered across the unit are dishes of Hershey's nuggets of a variety of flavors and a bucket of tootsie rolls, sweet tarts and other miniature goodies like twix, milky way, butterfingers, etc. There is at least a cake a week brought in. Not one fruit in sight.

Sounds like the office manager has a serious sweet tooth.

It does amaze me that with all the information we have about obesity that people don't exercise some degree of moderation. We all can still have some of what you listed, but not in the quantity that you have listed. If it is a temptation for you, bring in fruit and combine it with one of the crappy foods. Good luck.

Can you talk to whoever keeps supplying this and give them your honest feedback? Causing their employees sugar crashes isn't good for productivity!

Great ideal, you also could start a petition to see if you can get enough signatures to get healthier snacks in.

That's some good ideas. We work in IT and it is a lot of sit down, testing and coding. In addition to all this, we get the "I got up early so I made a peach cobbler" every so often. On my way to my soccer game tonight, we plan on stopping by the local produce stand. I'll grab a few things for work and see if anyone gets the hint. I went from 225 back in 2008 but due to stress I dropped about 25 - 35 pounds. I floated back and forth in the 185-195 range and my wife suggested I try FatSecret after her success. I can't go back to anywhere near that weight. I'm hovering above 165 and that was my ceiling for a long time...time to get back under that. Down here is Louisiana we talk about dinner at lunch. Food is a lifestyle here.
