Take a day off, then get back on. Sometimes, a "mini" vacation is just what the doctor ordered. Just don't make it permanent! I had a friend who told me once that there was no way you could undo six whole days' worth of effort in one day. And sometimes our bodies need to get a little confused before they can "get with the program" again. As far as the stress goes, I find that I work out harder when I go to the gym, which helps. When I'm really stressed, I put on my 80's dance music in the empty aerobics room and jam out! The way I dance, it's a workout! Just getting away from my workload for an hour is a blessing. Good luck! There IS a light at the end of the tunnel!

Two things I absolutely believe to be true...1) Stress BITES. 2) Food doesn't fix it.

I am not.. ( I did splurged today.. with a subway pulled BBQ.. did not know what the calorie intake was till I got home.. will not do it again)...but I feel like it.. (two different things feeling and doing)... I closed last night at work, usually takes me an hour to close the shop up with the weekending paper work.. due to the new system and everything fouled up there- it took me over 3 hours with the paper work.. got home after 12 midnight.. I am getting pressure for work that I need to be faster on the paper work.. this is from the manager that has not closed in 5 years, and has no idea what she is talking bout since she never had a weekending close.. Felt like throwing my keys in.. and splurging last night.. but did not.. well I had a very large bowl of my cheat food... salad (I mean a large bowl.. used practically a whole bag of family size salad...every careful with the dressing though..)

I do understand that feeling, too. It is hard to manage stressors without feeling like we need to turn to something. Hang in there!

I'm a total stress eater, completely understand!! at least you opted for salad, good call! i always add like dried cranberries or candied walnuts so i get a bit of sweet so it feels like cheating but it's not so bad! :)

Hi Hoosier, I'm definitely a stress eater as well. I know though that when I give into that stress and splurge on food that I actually feel worse after the fact. It might sound silly, but this is something that works for me......when I'm feeling like I'm about to make bad food choices because of other factors in my life I stop to think about it,...and actually "tell off" the stress in my mind and make the choice to take control of my eating. Like for real, in my head I go the eff off....and not only do I feel better,....but I've taken control of my food which in turns makes me feel empowered about everything in general.

I know exactly how you feel!!! And it is the worst. I hope you are able to battle through it. But if you are unsuccessful and binge on all the wrong things, I hope you wake up refreshed tomorrow - knowing that it is a brand new day - and ready/able to make the best choices!

Deep breathing. Breath in for 8 counts. Squeeze your fists to crush that stress while you hold for 8 counts. Breath out for 8 counts as you brush the stress away.
