ReneefromLA's Journal, 20 June 2014

Not to be too child-of-the-nineties, but TGIF!!! I haven’t written a journal in a bit but that’s mostly because my life has been hectic. 2 weeks ago I got into a minor car wreck. I was fine by my passenger side mirror/door was not. The lady who hit me (it was totally her fault!) didn’t have insurance AND had bench warrants out for unpaid tickets (she actually told me this!) started crying and asked that I please not call the cops. So, knowing that I would have to pay for my damage whether or not she went to jail, I gave her a get out of jail free card and told her not to worry about it. However, I gave her a stern talking to about being a responsible adult and taking care of your business and how much worse the situation could have been if I wasn’t willing to let her out of it. Which was odd because this lady was probably closer to my mom’s age.

Speaking of, I’ve had a really hard time lately because I’m such a responsible adult with a grown up job. Dating is hard because I feel that all the guys that are in the acceptable dating range (29-39) for me (I’m 29) are completely juvenile. I don’t want to meet up with anybody on a Wednesday night at 9 o’clock because I have work the next day. I also need you to make plans in advance because if you text me at 8, I’ve already gone to the gym after work, came home, cooked and eaten supper, showered, and am probably sitting in PJs in front of the TV or in bed reading a book. So no, I will not meet you anywhere and, no, you cannot come over to my house. And no, I will not hang out with you at your mom’s house or with your 6 roommates at your crappy apartment near the U. Am I just too old-fashioned?! Anyway, sorry to go off topic, but that has been something that causes me stress and we all know that stress can really affect your mental health which in turn affects weight loss efforts.

Anyway, I ended up fixing my own car with parts I was able to purchase off of Amazon after the Toyota place quoted me over $500 just to fix the mirror. I managed to get my car looking completely back to normal in under $100, which includes buying all new tools. I also had a flat tire that I had to change myself the same weekend. Fortunately, I had the week off last week to burn through some vacation time before I lost it at the end of the month so I was able to take my time to get everything done. I was also able to get some MD appts in that I’ve been putting off. I got a clean bill of health for the most part. My BP was excellent and, as always, I have the pulse of a marathon runner!

The only bad thing is because I was so busy but not on a set schedule, I went off my diet pretty significantly. In turn, I was bloated and had terrible stomach pains all week. Now that I’m back to work, everything is coming up roses. So, on a positive note, I was able to use that experience to learn that I need to keep to a schedule. At least waking up and going to bed at the same time so my eating patterns aren’t thrown off too much.

I’m going shopping after work today because I have to buy new jeans for work. I’ve lost approximately 4 inches off of my hips and about another .5 inch around my waist (I’m guestimating based on clothing fit) and now even my stretchy jeans are baggy. I hate spending money on clothes when I know my body will continue to change but I have to look presentable at work, even on casual Fridays. I’m going to hit up JCP and Kohl’s since I have coupons for both places to see what I can get. I do fit in some older jeans that I brought with me when I moved from Louisiana but they’re too short for me now for some reason. And it’s too much of a hassle to have my mom go through what I left in her storage building to mail me some that might not fit anyway. Besides, that stuff is probably either too dated or won’t fit me right anymore.
Anyway, even though I haven’t been well behaved all month, I still plan to do my weigh in on 06/30. I’ll try to get some new measurements up just to see what’s what. My goal for next month is to be more vigilant on not having all out cheats. (Supplementing my diet with GF bread, treats on special occasions only, and a few glasses of wine a week are all being considered part of my normal diet now to make my life a little easier so I won’t just give up but eating pizza or burgers for a normal weekday dinner, eating convenience pre-packaged food, and eating anything on a regular basis with added sugar, real or artificial, are no go’s.)

Hope everyone has a great weekend and a ton of success!
