Mikie's Journal, 09 June 2014

Did well at a graduation yesterday. Did well today too. Now (for me) comes the challenging part of the day [7p to 4a]. Removed most of the snack food from the house [chips ahoy, etc] That alone should lower my calorie count by a thousand or so.

LOL! Funny, but true. Not long ago, I got a serving of of junk food, but decided to just consume the whole package just so that I would not be tempted the next day!

That's funny because I've done the same..just eat the whole thing because then it's gone! Haha good job on getting rid of everything..that in itself can be hard!

Been there too, sometimes I have no self control, other times I can resist temptation just wish I knew what the secret was to be able to resist all the time, think it could be hormonal but then,is that just an excuse, not sure?

Be sure and have something to replace the junk like veggies or fruit or light/fat free versions of your favorite junk otherwise if you are like me when the monkey climbs on my back and I dont have it in the house I will go buy it and more. I am getting better at not doing this as time goes by but its hard

If I open a bag of something I'm likely to eat the whole thing before it's all over. So better not to have it in the house at all. I do have a bag of Hershey's special dark miniatures in the pantry and also some in my desk drawer, so far I've done well at eating just one occasionally without chowing down on more. It's satisfies my chocolate craving and just one is 40 calories, plus the dark chocolate has anti-oxidants.

For the first time yesterday I opened a bar of chocolate and only ate a couple of squares. Normally I have to finish it all even when I tell myself I can only have a little the rest calls to me till I can't resist and give in. Willpower is something I seem to have been born without :(

So far so good. I like the idea of having an alternative to the junk food. I cant see "binging" on a bag of carrot sticks in the middle of the night. Not having a row of chips ahoy to go through really helps. Plus logging the true portions shows exactly how bad it is (1 row = 18 cookies = 6 servings = 960 calories) bla bla bla. Can't realistically work that off in the gym.

Binging on carrots doesn't appeal here either :)
