Jim, I feel your pain. There comes a moment when you have to just make the commitment to not give up. If you, like most of us, have been trying to get your weight under control but cannot seem to make a lasting change, then it is time to not only try again to start eating to build a healthy body, it is time to start looking at why over-eating/eating the wrong foods is so important that you have not been able to get things under control. If you are a "stress eater", then you need to identify the stressor and start working to do something about it, or to learn how to better deal with the stress. If you "just like the way eating certain foods or eating large quantities of food" make you feel, it is time to start finding more productive/healthier ways to make yourself feel good.
On this site, we are all here for you. You can vent, cry, ask for support or just ask questions - we are here for you. No judging, just positive energy.
Keep us updated. We care.

I was in the same boat, afraid I was going to follow in the footsteps of my parents and brother with all their illnesses.

Jim, don't let external forces shield the love that emanates from within. Health can be hard, but you must take the reins and make the necessary improvements in order to keep sharing your love!
I will be posting some killlller recipes from here on out. Some very healthy, man recipes that I think you'll enjoy. Try substituting things in and out and see what you like. One small change that has worked for me so far is avoiding sodas and ALCOHOL (eee DEVIL ALCOHOL). Booze leads you to hunger and cravings come back. We all like to have a good time, but try to reserve the beers for on the weekend.
You know we are all in this together, so don't be afraid to ask for additional advice from anyone. And as always.. Be Strong, Be Well, Be YOU! You can do it Jimbo!

I will chime in with Poker and Notjune and say to be patient! Be persistent and remind yourself of why you're doing this. Good luck!

Not just one day at a time but one meal as well. Practice mindful eating vs mindless eating! You can do this!
