ChristyLA's Journal, 23 April 2014

Today's workout was 26 min of cardio and core exercises. I was looking forward to it and did it fairly early in the day, but 7 minutes into it, I felt like I'd had enough - just lost my energy and motivation to workout. I finished the workout, of course, but I wish I hadn't felt that way. Hopefully it won't discourage me from working out tomorrow. And hopefully tomorrow I'll be more into my workout. I plan on at least going for a walk, and I'll see what else I can do. I would like to go for a long walk, but I think my husband is coming with me and he doesn't like to walk, so it might be a short walk.

I will tell you, my legs are super sore today - my hamstrings, calves, and shins. Mentally, it feels good to be more active, but I do not like the pain from soreness. Oh well. C'est la vie!

I am so glad you pushed through your workout, and I hope you have a good walk. Have you tried to change up your routine ? Maybe that would help some. I can completely understand where you are coming from, I am in a funky place about wanting to workout, so just know your not alone.

Sherrie, today was only the third day since I've started working out again, so there's not much to switch up yet ;) But I have lots of different DVDs I can choose from, which is what I did today. I really like walking though, especially when the weather is nice. Eventually I get bored with the routes I take, so it's important that I have different workouts I can do. I have numerous Biggest Loser DVD workouts, the ChaLean Extreme DVD program, and the 10-Minute Trainer DVD program. I also have a nice set of adjustable dumbbells I can use. The possibilities are endless :) I think walking every other day is a good plan, to keep things fresh.

Thanks, Madanjen. I was determined to finish the workout, even before I started!

Whenever exercise is starting to be a bad thing, that probably means you're doing it too intensely, pushing yourself too much. The thing to do is simply taking it easy. When you're tired, go slower, listen to your body. This way exercise will become enjoyable again. You can definitely trade intensity for duration so don't worry about that! :)

When I wake on those days, feeling less energetic, I just cruise heheh. And, even while weight training, I don't push myself as much. I do less reps etc. I end each set when my body tells me to :)
