I must cut back on my fat intake. I am drinking much more water especially after I read the response of going down 3 sizes bu drinking 2 glasses of water before each meal.
weight has stalled for a bout 2 weeks now Today I will count every single calorie. Time to give up wine, I guess. all records say not to go below 1200 calories-----I wonder.
I am exercising much harder thatn I ever have.
Skinny neighbor eats braskfast and fasts till dinner---large dinner. But she is skinny Others say when fasting the body thinks it is starving and stops burning calories. such a delema

I needed to read twice if you actually meant 'fart' :) water is always good! and to me, you don't necessarily require to give up on wine, just reduce your amounts. it is all calories in and calories out.

In regards to the fasting aspect, the body will go into starvation mode if you fast for more than 24 hours at a time. Fast one day, eat normal the next and so on.

I disagree Chickturu, some people can metabolize the wine and do fine, others like myself who eat and drink under my RDI, maintain if those calories include wine or alcohol. When I want to lose some weight I eliminate the wine and off the lbs come... I just accept it as part of me and work with it. Then when you get down that next 10 lbs, you can really enjoy that glass of vino.

Your skinny neighbor is not eating healthy. Let her be crazy and fast dieting.. Just remember not everyone's body works the same way. I'm not sure if you've ever fasted, but your stomach shrinks and then it's hard to eat a large meal. If you are working out more than you have ever been -- your calorie intake should go UP allowing you to eat more carbs so that your body has energy throughout the day or for your workouts. If you have no carbs to burn (like your neighbor) you might as well be a slug in human skin. The idea is to keep your metabolism up... meaning constant intake of calories throughout the day - basically 6 small meals a day, with breakfast being the largest. (again not everyone's metabolism works the same way, the trick is to convince your metabolism it need nourishment every couple of hours or so - so that when you get to that dinner, you're not scarfing it down like a wile hyena! A lot of people drink coffee in the morning.. I've replaced my coffee with juicing and I leave all my other meals the same. But I still get my calorie intake with 3 veggies and 3-4 fruits in the AM. Breakfast: Slightly larger than most meals (in calories) Before noon snack: something light - yogurt or some fruit Lunch: healthy but filling.. not all salads are filling, fruit, veggies - maybe a sandwich with some chips. Afternoon snack: Again something light - fiber one bars are delicious!! If you've never had them - try the oats and chocolate - yum!! Dinner: Nice hearty dinner, protein and veggies. Evening snack: If you're still hungry. if not skip it.

I have to disagree with people saying fasting is bad. Many people on FS use IF to lose weight and maintain. And I for one am not the doctor of your neighbor to intelligently discuss whether or not what she is doing is healthy for her. People have many different opinions on this board and you need to choose what works for you and not listen to fear mongers about how you will be unhealthy if you do this or that. Evidently we were unhealthy at one point or we wouldn't be here. Also regarding fasting, how is going from breakfast to dinner worse than from dinner to breakfast while you sleep? What does breakfast mean? Breaking the fast from the night. Do what works for you and tread lightly when reading posts from people who say certain things are not healthy and those who are not losing weight. Thats my opinion.

I weigh in once a week, There is actually a challenge on here not to weigh in ,for a month , I think, they want you to concentrate on your food, water, and exercise and not on the scale.

I try to weigh in every two weeks.. its easy though because I don't have a scale yet.. I just go to my mom's to visit and weigh in.

If you would like a detox water.. the best one I've come across is: 3-4 slices of cucumber -- 2 leaves of mint -- 2 sliced strawberries -- 24oz of cold water. I always add a little bit of pineapple for sweetness.. its helped me slim down because it's an anti-bloat/anti-aging water.

Jyeza do you just blend it up or just put it in the water and let it steep?

Hi Dreamsinart. Have you ever heard of intermittent fasting. Last week I did an 18 hour fast. I stopped eating at 7pm and do not eat again until 1 in the after noon. There are different schedules you can try. Google has many studies and articles. I also wait until 2 weeks to weigh-in. I look forward to it. in the mean time, I work very hard so I won’t be disappointed. This is my first week at weight loss again and so far so good.

Darknightangel: Just let it steep.. and refresh after a few refills with water.. I go about 3 refills and then refresh the cucumber and strawberry.. the mint lasts most of the day. It's really helped my digestion and I don't get that crazy sound from my stomach anymore after I eat. For a while my intestines were angry and reeking havoc with the sounds of terror! It made me think something terrible was about to happen.. lol

Fasting has always been medical controversy and up for debate.. my intention is to warn people about malnutrition regarding fasting, because yes it can be bad for a person if not done properly. Your neighbor's most likely has had a healthy diet and has adjusted her body to fasting or only eating two big meals a day. Unfortunately, her fasting diet could potentially leave another person lying on the ground. Furthermore, anyone starting a new diet plan and fasting can lead to binge eating. Like I said, not everyone's body is the same. read for yourself Dreamsinart.. "Fasting for weight loss carries other health risks as well. While fasting for a day or two is rarely a problem __if you are healthy__, "it can be quite dangerous if you are not already eating a healthy diet, or if you've got liver or kidney problems, any kind of compromised immune system functioning, or are on medication -- even Tylenol," says Fuhrman, a family physician in Flemington, N.J.." http://www.webmd.com/ -- I've taken nutrition classes in the past that confirm this. If someone is not in tip-top shape, exercising "much harder than ever" and just starting a new diet.. no fasting would not be healthy in this case.
