gilliansings's Journal, 18 April 2014

Fridays are my day to start work a bit later. It makes for a nice morning. I've already changed my sheets and put away my winter down comforter. I'm waiting for my blanket to finish in the dryer and then the bed will be clean, cozy, and colorful with the lovely Martha Stewart quilt I bought on clearance last year.

Yesterday I went straight from work to my daughter's house. The grandsons took turns napping, so I had a nice bit of special time with each of them and was able to talk with my daughter calmly for a change.

We went to Old Navy so my daughter could investigate what type of fit is best for her now. After her 2nd child, she feels like her body has totally changed. I sympathize. While there, once she was done trying on a bunch of clothes, I tried on 4-5 different types of capris and ended up buying some nice ones on sale. I also bought a black jersey dress a la "Mad Men," lol. It fits like a glove.

When I got home, I modeled my new purchases for my husband and his eyes bugged out of his head and lovely things sprung from his lips ("Honey, your body is looking SO good!") Then, I tried on a bunch of my smaller clothes still in my closet. EVERYTHING fit! It felt SOOOOOO good.

I didn't cheat at all yesterday, despite being out and about from 8:30 am to 9:30 pm. I am really getting the hang of this.

Anyway, my original challenge (12 lbs. by Easter) that our FS friend, BuffyBear encouraged us to do really should be ending THIS Sunday (I started the challenge in an official format, but it made me allow a few days to encourage participants, so it goes BEYOND Easter).

I have weighed myself a couple times this week and my 1 lb. loss has held, so I don't feel I need to wait to weigh myself on Saturday or Sunday. Plus, I've been gradually moving up my weigh in day. My very first weigh in was a Friday, so I'm glad to be back there.

That means I made my goal EXACTLY. 12 lbs. by Easter. Hoorah!!! There are some participants that weren't able to officially join, but BuffyBear was doing a post every Sunday to document their stats. She had to take a bit of a breather from things, so there hasn't been an update in a couple weeks.

For everyone that joined in spirit or in print, I hope you are feeling good about things. If you are not, know that we all are behind you as you set new goals.

I for one am very proud of myself and look forward to finding another challenge if the fit is right. If not, I feel I can just chug along doing what I'm doing.

I really look forward to my physical in mid-June. While my doctor could probably still say I need to lose another 20 lbs., we have a good relationship (I used to be his nurse) and I can stand up for myself and say, "Hey, look how honest, gradual, and consistent this journey has been! Don't shortchange me!" Plus, I know my lab findings and vital signs will be improved, so that is REALLY what doctors should be looking at. That and my lovely mental attitude and sunny disposition :-)

Have a lovely Easter everyone!

Thanks, everyone! This site is my therapy, I swear. Even though people are very supportive, I am hard on myself when I read OTHER people's great stories and hear how hard they work. It shames me to try harder.
