SherrieC's Journal, 18 April 2014

Oh My, I had no idea how many calories were in a chicken biscuit. My girlfriend brought me one over the other day, and today I ate it because I couldn't just throw it out, that would be wasteful Right? So today I will go to the gym with my husband, and hopefully get my butt back on track. In the beginning it was great I loved going to the gym everyday, but now I feel like I burnt myself out a little. Now I go a couple of times a week maybe 3 times, depending on what is going on that week.
I have no routine, plus I must admit I am kinda scared to attempt the weights still. The one good thing is, I have to put everything I eat in the computer. Makes me feel like I am doing something right.
Ok, enough said sorry about that. I hope you all have a great day and weekend, and keep up the great work you are doing.

Yes, you can throw it out! I have taken food and put salt on it so I won't eat it. You don't have to eat everything people give you or make you. Don't be afraid of weights. You will lose fat more quickly and fit in to smaller sizes.

Fast food is brutal, isn't it Sherrie? Maybe you'll have the opportunity to mention to your friend that you're watching your calories and that even though you really appreciate the thought, could she not bring things like this. I know if it was me, my willpower would do OK most of the time - but there would be the days when I'd just cave and eat the damn thing if it was there. Good luck at the gym!

I guess I am a sucker when it comes to food that I don't have to cook. It is so much easier, and faster but you are both right. Thanks Suzi, and Vickie

I think anything with the work "biscuit" is going to be bad but oh so delicious!! I have not given up fast food entirely. I just search their menu for something that keeps me in my daily calorie goal. I've thrown out food to get rid of the temptation and I stop buying things for my family that I know will cause me to personally struggle! Your workouts are always so good so be proud! If your scared to start on weights just ask one of the gym staff to get you started. They LOVE helping people who want to try new things!

Fast food is brutal, indeed. Keeping in line with whole foods I am forcing myself to physically prepare my cravings. I remember my grandmother rising early to make biscuits. The thought of measuring flour, kneading and rolling biscuits (for a dozen that my family would devour in minutes) quickly cured my breakfast craving the other day! Crisis averted...I ate oatmeal with blueberries and crunchy walnuts...

Thanks Sue, and LuC I did it just now, I finally did the Leslie Sansone 2 mile walk. Although I wasn't very fast I did do all of it. I think I may just ask for some help with the weights tonight if it isn't very crowded. Hope you all have a great weekend and Happy Easter !!!

Congratulations, SherrieC! It feels so great to do that for yourself, doesn't it? I just love Leslie Sansone! She made me feel like I had a fighting chance to get moving and do productive exercise even at home. I'm so glad you tried her out. Buy some of her stuff and support her because I believe she really cares about helping people make a new start!

I have continued to be shocked by how many calories and carbs my favorite things have now that I am logging it and paying attention. Two days ago, I had a Cadbury creme egg and didn't think it was a big deal. The "old me" would have eaten four or five of them, so one was not anything to fret about, right? Wrong. Geesh, my candy/dessert habit has much, much more impact than I ever thought before I started counting carbs. Very, very good, but ultimately not worth it.
