I am trying this food tracker website out because it will link with TicTrac.
I have been using SparkPeople.
I would welcome any suggestions how to use FatSecret.

good luck figuring it out, I just "feel my way" through it. I still don't really understand it, but I can track food, up date weight and talk to people! It's fun and helpful.

Same here, Dreamsinart! But what I have figured out about FS has been most helpful for diet/exercise tracking AND sharing information with new folks and the veterans who have become our success models! Welcome, 1LuckyPenny!

Well, Thank you both for your warm welcome! I am going to play around with it the rest of this week and get my 'favorites' keyed in, and then get back to serious food tracking beginning next week. I did really like SparkPeople - I used it for about a year. But I recently got a "JawBone". It's a fitness tracking bracelet that syncs with an app on your ipad or phone. The food tracker that goes with the JawBone app is not very good (in my opinion). The JawBone app lead me to this TicTrac website that links different applications to one 'dashboard' (projects) ... the concept has me captivated and inspired! FatSecret is one of the food trackers that links well (there were others - this seemed the best choice to me) So ... that's my story on why I'm here. How about you Dreams In Art and LuC2 - how did you get here? Penny

I used to keep my diet and exercise pen-and-paper back in the day! So when I was looking for something new FS came up and it seemed liked the friendliest place, sync-ed with my cellphone, had nearly all the foods I needed AND easily allowed you to add specific foods to your database. I was sold! :D

I also used to write my food and calories on paper. I was drawn to FS because of the name! Many people mentioned on-line places to track food and exercise but I didn't want to take the time. It was too complicated to track food so I wouldn't do it. I joined but didn't participate. I did add to my journal occ. and maybe tracked my weight. I wasn't serious. Eventually I got serious and started login my food which turned out to be easy with FS. I also started tracking my weight and adding to my journal. When I started reading other other people stories, I realized what I am going through is ok. I am not a loser because I have gained weight, I am just a person. I stopped being ashamed and started posting and stopped keeping my journal private. I love the community. This is the first site that the people actuall interact, The FS people actually encourage eachother.
