Day 4: I didn't eat a lot yesterday. Wasn't that hungry... But I need to make an effort to eat a bit more even if I'm not that hungry!

I also need more protein.
It seems that it was indeed true that vegetarians do not get much protein. Any vegetarian tips? :O

Greek yogurt, quinoa, edamame, & protein drinks (or smoothies with protein powder) are my go-tos. And if you're an ovo-lacto vegetarian, a hard-boiled egg every now & then can be a real help. If not, soy beans (like edamame) are a complete protein.

I would recommend quinoa for sure... I love it, I could eat it all the time... make a big pot and have some cooked and ready to throw into any meal. Quinoa is a complete protein. I also recommend Tone it Up Protein powder. It's delicious, not GMO, vegan, and not soy... (you want to make sure you aren't consuming soy too much... like once a day is ok but not every meal.) If you haven't heard of Tone it Up just google them but I have a bag of their vanilla protein powder and it's actually amaaaazing, you can make smoothies or you can use it as a "flour" and make healthy protein pancakes and muffins... so yumm.... (No i don't work for them, I just loooove their protein powder, and their workouts.) :D Hope that helps!

I just got this info last night, coincidentally...Green peas, Quinoa, nuts and nut butters, leafy greens, hemp milk and other non-dairy milks---such as almond milk, chia seeds, sesame seeds, poppy seeds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, oatmeal, and something called Seitan. I never heard of it before but it's a meat substitute made from wheat gluten. Some people can't eat gluten, of course. :)

Lentils, tempeh, chickpeas, black beans (all kinds of beans), chia seeds, nuts, quinoa, tofu. All these are good protein sources. When you combine them with lots of different veggies and spices, in different preparations, you can get a lot of variety and not have to feel like you are eating the same thing every day. Good luck!

Idiay There are so many different opinions about vegetarians and protein. Some people say if you eat enough vegetables you will get plenty protein. Some say you have to watch your food combinations ie beans and a grain. Some say you have to eat the beans and rice together to be a complete protein, others say it isn't necessary. Some say you have to eat a lot more calories to stay full. I was a vegetarina for years and did none of the above and was quite healthy. I did eat eggs and yogurt and used milk in some of my dishes. My daughter was a vegetarian during her first pregnancy with the Dr. approval. She delivered a healthy baby. She ate a wide variety of vegetables The body doesn't need as much protein as we eat. Seems like all the diets recomend a lot of protein. There is a lot of research that says you stay satisfied with protein and it raises your metobolic rate. But that does not necessarily mean your body needs that much protein. Part of what keeps you full with protein is the fat in the meat. Good luck It is a very healthy way to live.
