Reminder pants

So, I have saved all my size 26 & 28 size clothes. I still wear them and all because 1) I don't really believe in wasting money on clothes that I don't plan on fitting either in a few months and 2) I like to be reminded of my progress based on the fit of those clothes now compared to almost a year ago. My 2nd son will be 1 years old in 2 days so it reminds me that I started this journey about 11 months ago. Almost a year.

But anyway, today I put on these size 28 pants that I love. I have worn them the whole time seeing them get looser and looser, but today something was different. I could barely walk in them without tripping. Apparently, I didn't realize that the pants getting bigger would also mean them getting longer in a sense. They are so loose that it is borderline presentable in a business setting. It has caused me to consider retiring one of my favorite pants.

Bitter Sweet I guess....What a difference a year makes....

That is so great! It definitely feels good when you HAVE to retire clothes because they are just too big. Keep up the good work!

Haha. That's hilarious, Bill. Lover... I have one pair of 42 inch waist jeans that I keep in a spot that I got to occasionally. It's long enough between that I always forget they're around until I open that door. Makes me smile every time. I have this one pair of blue sweat pants as well. They're huge, but they have a draw string, and they're so comfy and cozy. If they disappeared, I think I'd feel like my daughter must have felt when we weened her off her 'blanky'. Don't tell her I have them. SHE'D PAY ME BACK!!!

I used to keep my clothes around as a reminder and esp loved that belt that wrapped around me twice but this time I've discarded most of them. I have a couple of 3x denim shirts I keep as 'over jackets' and yeah, you're right - they are on the verge of a clown costume. I think it may be a 'girl' thing but sometimes I like casting a shadow 'larger' than I am - makes me feel stronger while I'm wrapping my head around still being strong and powerful even though I've lost a third of my beginning weight.

Lovergirl... I was a 24 when I started. And the day will come when you're into the teen sizes. What a thrill. And it keeps going down. I donated all my clothes to Good Will. Bought more from them last year and will donate them back next week and get more. I kept one robe that I could barely button across the belly. Just a reminder. I trip over it. :~) I won't keep anything from the "old/bigger" days in the house. Knowing I have nothing larger then a 12 stretch, 14 regular in the house will help keep me honest.

I can't possibly wear my 44's that I still have from my "fat" days. They look like clown pants on me. I just bought a 32 jeans and they are still nice and roomy, but don't need a belt unless I put heavy stuff in the pockets. I still use one of the 44 belts on the 34s and 36s I have 'cuz it cost so much. I just keep punching more holes in it. It wraps around the front and points behind me.

LOL, Draglist, "Send in the clowns!" Here's to hoping we're all looking a little oddly dressed REALLY soon! I bought a few outfits (some of the catalyst for starting my new food plan) and they're already loose...that was not smart! But I tell you what, I'll be safety pinning those bad boys on me till I just can't! Seriously, when it's time to put them to pasture I will because having enough clothes in multiple sizes like Macy's makes it very easy to slide up and down the weight scale! You go, LoverGirl, Keep it moving!

Thrift stores can be great to help till you get to goal. But go you for losing and fitting in to smaller sizes!

I wore mine too, until my hubby finally said it was time to get some new clothes lol If he was noticing, then I knew it was time, since he generally doesn't comment on clothes :)

Look for consignment shops. They are a great place to get nice slightly used clothes, for low prices. Once you've moved down to the next size, just take them back to the consignment shop, to be resold again (take good care of them though, most shops a very picky), and you can hopefully get some of your money back, and some more new clothes.

Consignment is an excellent idea, lacain57! I will definitely look into that because you can get real quality pieces that way.

I'm going to the thrift store after work tomorrow 1/2 price on women's clothes. My work clothes look awful as everything is too big and falling off. I have a couple tops that don't look awful.

I absolutely LOVED reading all these comments. Laughed at them all. Oh the woes of weight loss haha. I love the idea of consignment, and I may take a look in a thrift store. I just figured they wouldn't have my size. I'm still in the mindset that I can't fit things I see instead of just trying them on. Lol. Gotta work on that. Perspective.
