GlennM's Journal, 13 April 2014

My mom passed away in Greenfield, Massachusetts at a nursing home at age 67 yesterday at about 12:40 p.m. - a nurse was with her, she had terminal breast cancer. She could be a tough woman, but I miss her very, very much already. I took her cat in a short matter of weeks ago. My dieting is OK. No wake, she did not want one, so she is going to be cremated and most ashes in a cemetery in Hadley, Massachusetts.

So sorry to hear this. My mother is the same age and I worry about her. I hope your mom didn't suffer too terribly (with cancer it seems like it can go either way). Wishing you peace in the coming weeks and months.

I am sorry for your loss. It makes me sad that she had breast cancer. It sounds like you were there for her. My mom and aunt passed when I was not there. The nurses were there. It is wonderful that your diet is good through this.

Deepest condolences...It's so very tough to lose mom. Cancer is such a thief (as we watch it slowly take from us the one we love) but I pray you have happy memories that will bring you joy in the days to come.

My deepest sympathy for your loss. May you find comfort in knowing that she is no longer suffering. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Glenn, I know you heart is filling with grief as well as pained. There is a promise found at 1 Corinthians 15:26, It says "The last enemy that will be abolished is death." We are promised one day death will be done away with. And what about our loved ones? What hope do they have who have died? Notice Acts 24:15 "there is going to be a resurrection” We can have hope and comfort that one day we will see our loved ones again. I encourage you to visit: http://www.jw.org/en/publications/books/dead-live-again-tract/dead-live-again/. It will bring more comfort to you than I can possibly say! Deborah

Sorry to hear that. Breast cancer and heart disease claim many too young.

Thanks, everyone. She suffered quite a bit the last few months. They doped her up so much with morphine near the end. A strong dose of it did her in... she was clear-minded right up to the last day or two and she did not go into a coma as most people with cancer do... it is still hard to believe she is gone for the rest of the time I am here on earth. She will be buried in August, she was cremated. I was off of here for a few weeks, I guess I am back. It is better to be on here than FB, which can be addictive... somersaulting raccoons and hopping cats on video can be interesting and funny.

I'm sorry for your loss. It's so hard, I understand that. I lost my mother 8 years ago to cancer at the age of 53. They stay in your heart forever.

Thanks, Sherry and Shia. It has been so hard to lose my mother. One thinks they will live to 98. She was far too young... It has been seventeen days now. I won't forget her... she is on my mind a lot. I have her cat now.
