Down 85+lbs from my beginning weight in 2011 and using 1/4 the insulin. Also off all of my cholesterol, blood pressure, asthma, and heart meds. Blood tests now show better than normal indicators in all areas. Neuropathy is gradually pulling back.

My insulin requirements continue to drop. At least the basal rates. Continuing lows have given me the opportunity to eat meals without taking insulin boluses in order to correct the lows (I'm lowering the basal dose everyday also). The last few days I haven't taken any bolus insulin to cover carbs with my meals. I don't have any illusions that my diabetes has been cured, but it is rather remarkable that I haven't had any high BGs since last Monday despite reducing my daily insulin from ~ 20 units to ~ 14 units. All the while, some days eating 100+ grams of carbohydrates.

Doesn't seem to matter how many calories or carbs, fat, or protein I eat, I am staying at the same weight. I don't eat any junk food, or processed foods for that matter (just eating "real" foods), but I seem to have reset my body's "set point" to this new value at, or around, 170 lbs. Lotsa fiber along with high quality probiotics is working remarkably well on all fronts. Guess I'll do like the Doc says, and just keep doing what I've been doing. It works.
