Ruhu's Journal, 06 April 2014

Well I found a time that the city that never sleeps is asleep... But it's when I'm awake & ready for day! And even though there's a Starbucks on very corner, they don't open until 6 on the weekends, which is early for most New Yorkers, but not this menopausal CT gal!

It's been a super fun, wonderful girls weekend! We've shopped, sightseen, subwayed, and seen 2 spectacular shows. Les Mis will remain my all-time fav, but Newsies was fun and with great music & dancing. And the food here has been delicious. I've easily stayed my course, with the tastiest of gluten, lactose & sugar free meals.

I'm sad to say goodbye to my friends, but ready to get home. I haven't slept well, so a good nights sleep is sounding really wonderful tonight. DH travels Mon - Thurs this week, so Ill have time to spend with him today followed by a nice, low key week ahead. And I'm ready with my P's (pause, plate, striving for progress not perfection, in prayer) and C's (staying curious, seeking calm, and being in charge) for the transition home. Yes, I'm tired but it's a good exhaustion brought on by many wondeful times with close friends, and I'm going home with great memories and a stronger bond with these longtime, hometown friends!

So now I'll use my 1st P as I pray for serenity. And through this one transition day and each one meal, moment, bite, thought & emotion, I'll pray, breathe, log, journal & express my way. I'm so, so very grateful for each of amazing you, my family & IRL friends, having had this wonderful time in NYC with the greatest of friends with the health & wealth to live this life I love! Xoxox

I have always been amazed about the late start in NY as well. There was a Dunkin Donuts around the corner from where we stayed and it didn't open until 8 or 9 on the weekend. Maybe it is different now, that was in 2000 but it struck me as odd. I really wanted that coffee! Great job on maintaining and doing well while away. Just what I needed to read as I am going off this week.

7:45 am. Lovely journal Ruth. Glad you enjoyed your weekend and are looking forward to going home. Perhaps you'll nap on the train home. It's hard to imagine Starbucks not opening til 6 in New York. You'd expect it it be 24 hours. Enjoy your win bed tonight. Transition well my lovely. See you tomorrow morning. :).

Slept late for me and I don't set my coffee to go automatically on weekends. 7:40 coffee is almost done. My own mix of two coffees one has chicory, and them I add cinnamon to the grounds.

weekend mornings are pretty quiet. used to like driving from new jersey through out to my parent's sailboat at city island in the Bronx early sat or sunday mornings, very little traffic. then sail in long island sound.

Sounds like a great trip. I love NYC too. Great job on fully enjoying your vacation while staying on track with your goals. It can be hard to find that balance, but it sounds like you nailed it!
