mrsmole's Journal, 14 February 2014

So, it's going to be one of THOSE days, is it? Where I did every thing right and still gained a pound? Okay, body, BE that way! LOL.

Losing weight reminds be of being in debt. It's soooo easy to spend and get yourself in debt, then the bills come and you have to pay it off. The problem is, you also have to keep paying rent and gas for the car, when you just want all your money to go toward paying bills! So it has to be gradual, while you're taking care of normal bills and cutting back on your indulgences.

Likewise, it's soooo easy to gain weight, then when you're finally ready to lose it, you basically want to do it yesterday and want it done. But you can't - it has to be gradual, while you're taking in the minimum you can for your body to get back and cutting back on your indulgences. And just like debt, you want to make sure you never get in over your head again.

I guess the difference is that someone can always write you a check to get you out of debt, but no one can write you a check for -70,000 calories, haha!

Wouldn't it be cool if we could write calorie checks for the children starving in Africa? "Here you go, sweetie - here's 35,000 calories I can do without." And you send it to Sally Stuthers to help save the children. ROFL. Don't we wish? Feed two birds with one hand. I don't like killing birds with stones :(

This is definitely one my favorite journal entries I've seen since I joined FS. Brava!

Eden6, thank you for your kind words. I often try to make light of our collective predicament here in a way that we can all relate to. I so appreciate that you took notice. It makes up for my undeservedly, lousy weigh-in. Cheers.

When you figure out how to send the extra weight and calories to those more in need...PLEASE let me know!!! I have an abundance that should go that way too!

Oh listen, if I could figure that out, we'd not only be skinny chicks, we'd be skinny billionaire chicks, haha! Maybe in some futuristic society, they can "beam" the fat from us to those in need, like a banking wire transfer. I'll work on that in my spare time. :)

Don't fret - just think how great you have been doing! FYI - those prunes are a double edge sword. I use spinach. No sugar in the spinach and I think it works better.

Does spinach really have the same effect? I'm going to look that up! The prunes the other day only brought me barely to 1000 calories, so it was okay. I hadn't had very much sugar, only a pear, I think, other than the prunes. Thanks for the tip, Buffy. I will check it out. But I need something to move things along. It had been 4 days, and that's just ridiculous. Kinda grosses me out, too. :(

I read about the spinach in the doctor's office. I try to mix it up - raw kale, sweet potato, apple, etc. I also allow myself one ounce of nuts/day. Yes, gross to talk about but it works.

Nuts for me are like potato chips - I can't stop at one ounce. And I hate to buy a one ounce package because of the cost. But if it's in the house, it calls to me. Maybe I can get you to mail me an ounce of nuts once a week and I'll mail you a few bucks? Haha.

I like your attitude, MrsMole! And a check for lower blood pressure, blood sugar, unclogged arteries. LOL! Yep, patience isn't fat people's biggest virtue. It isn't common in skinny people either, they just never had to worry about it. Happy Valentines Day!

Mrsmole, I think you should stand proud. I looked at your weight history and wow - that's impressive! 46 pounds in five months is massively impressive! And the loss has been mostly steady. Even when I'm in a fast loss mode, I don't have the steady loss you have. My graph is a mass of wiggles and ups and downs. Took me a while but I began interpreting the daily up/down as "grass on the hillside" and focused on the hillside. It's been worse lately, since October I lost my day job. So now I go to a lot of professional society meetings, afternoon conferences, networking meetings...some cater food, some are at restaurants, and you never know the nutrient content. Restaurants even salt salads. I usually consume no salt, so even a tiny amount can cause water retention and a pound up the next morning. I shrug it off, as long as my longer-term trend is the right direction (not the case at the moment). You have an impressive chart.

Spinach? Wow! Who knew, and ... "Beam me fat, Scotty". If anyone can figure out the fat beaming, it will be someone like Dom. I lost most of my weight before Dom came up with the idea. :( Maybe I can run the machine? WHOA! WE'RE BEING SUED FOR ALL THE LOOSE SKIN!!!

awesome analogy :) Slow and steady wins the race!

After all you've lost & how far you've come, some weeks/days may be slower than others. But, I too, thought when I gave up added sugar, those last few extra lbs would melt right off -- wrong! But feeling good & good about who you are, is so much more important! Xoxox

Mrs mole I just loved your journal entry it pretty much sums it up. Babe I'm gonna try the tip about spinach. I had to use prunes on myself this week and the carbs were really high from them.
