Hey @Mjgh06... Actually (and Keld or Draglist, feel free to correct me if I get this a bit off), as I understand it, Keld and Draglist have been doing something very similar. In Keld's case, he has been doing IF (Intermittent Fasting) with a focus on the IIFYM (If It Fits Your Macros) approach to it. Draglist did most of his weight loss following Carson Chow, which is very similar to Intermittent Fasting. Both follow the age-old weight loss technique of calories in vs calories out that we have always known. But Intermittent Fasting allows you to change the timeframe in which to do adjust that balance. For instance, we have always known that if you burn 2200 calories a day and eat only 1700, you have a daily calorie deficit of 500 calories, which should give you a weight loss of one pound a week. With IF you do the same thing, but you might *borrow* some of those daily 1700 calories to use on specific days (what Keld always called his indulgence days). So, if you ate only 1400 calories a day for 6 days, you would have 1800 extra calories to use on your Indulgence Day, for a total of 3,500. For the week, you still had an average daily calorie deficit of 500 calories, and you still lose a pound. These diets help to inhibit plateaus and give you one or two *cheat* days, so you get mental satisfaction. Similarly, with intermittent fasting, the timeframe is adjustable, so you can also use the method within a single day. For instance, fast all day long, except for an 8 hour span in which you eat all your daily calories. I have not been doing any variation on IF until recently, mostly I've just cut my portion sizes and focused on getting 80-100g of protein a day. In the last three weeks, I have added the fasting / 8 hour thing. I've never been a big morning eater anyway, and I find it makes the cravings much easier to deal with in the day. I hope that helps. Again, Keld and Bill, feel free to correct anything I may have mis-stated.

I am pretty familiar with IF. I did before it ever became a thing just because I have no appetite. I do coffee/water fasts from supper one day through the next day to breakfast the next day, so a 40hr fast whenever I seem to stall now. My problem is eating enough. I force myself to eat 700-800cals a day. May I ask why you chose to start the IF when you have been doing so Great on your plan?

Thanks for clarifying, @Bill. In my head I kind of lump the two together, but I know there are some little differences.

Hey, @Mjgh, I wouldn't really say I've changed my plan. I'm still doing the same thing I was before, eating all the same staple foods (my protein shakes), the same macros, and just cutting portion sizes for the foods I am eating. I've really only added the 8-hour window to what I'm already doing. In some ways, that really isn't a change either. I already wasn't eating before noon a lot of days, and was trying not to eat after 8PM on most days, but now it is more of an official goal of mine. To me, it isn't really any kind of dramatic change, more of a minor shift to a refined daily standard. I haven't incorporated any of the other IF methods (like saving calories for indulgence days, and stuff).
