Eating Whole30

Today marks the halfway point of my Whole30 Challenge. Eating W30 has truly changed my outlook for food. I have tried so much new stuff since the start of this challenge. The wide world of coconut and all of its benefits are mind-boggling to me and I use something coconut related every single day (and remember -- I hated all things coconut before this!). My awareness for sugar and soy in our foods just blows me away. Eating something freshly prepared agrees with me so much more rather than slamming down something commercially prepared and frozen then nuked. I am aware of portion sizes and trying to keep everything related to the W30 plan and that helps. Not having to measure or weigh food and portions and count carbs really is liberating even though I can't wait to get my bathroom scale back. The fluctuations in my weight absolutely does affect my mental state but I usually use that information constructively and amend my menu to make those drastic swings happen much less often. Also, I am looking forward to having cheese again since I am somewhat of a cheese-aholic. I know, not exactly healthy but I know my quiche and frittatas would be so much better with a bit of cheesy goodness in them, too.

Anyway... I'm looking forward to the last half of this challenge and to see what stays with me after it's all over. Ultimately when I was addressing what my goals were this time when I lost the weight, one goal was to change my way of eating so I don't have to diet for significant weight loss again. This challenge has helped me get a handle on how to properly nourish myself and I believe this will carry over even after I reach my goals.

If you have self-discipline and want to try Whole30, I highly recommend it. However, if you're one of those people who cave in easily, don't do it. Eating whole foods for 30 days requires a lot more than just a nicely stocked refrigerator!
