So, my hip was indeed very inflamed after my run Monday... all day Tuesday I was walking with a hitch in my step, but today it's only mildly sore. I've been icing it frequently and I expect I should be ready to resume running Friday.

Instead of running today I went to the gym and did some weight work. It was also nice to check the scale (I don't have one at home) and see I've shed a few more pounds. I'm looking forward to getting under 200 soon... I was hoping it might be tonight, but not yet I guess.

Ouch, and inflamed hip sounds really painful! I would love to run, but I have a messed up knee and the doc recomended that I stay away from impact sports that may cause permanent damage, such as running... sigh...

Yes, the hip thing is pretty difficult sometimes... I have an old injury that messed up my hip and it used to cause me varying levels of pain daily. Losing weight has really helped, I don't hurt all the time. I do have to still be careful If I over-do it with the running/other high impact workouts it will get sore. I know that running isn't the best thing for it, but on the other side - running is something I've really started to enjoy and it is good for me to be active. I can't train as hard or as fast as most other beginning runners, but I've found if I'm careful I can still be a runner despite the bad hip. I'm sorry to hear you have a knee problem that limits what kind of exercises you can do. Have you tried swimming? I've found it to be a great low impact exercise for the times when my hip was too bad to do much else, but I still wanted to keep up with regular exercises. Take Care! Sandra
