Some good, bad and ugly to report today, but still smiling from all the lovely journal entries I just read. You all are the best.
Ugly--I went to work in Seattle on Wed/Thur and packed an old skirt and a pair of dressy capris that I just bought a couple of weeks ago. Both were too big!! The capris (on sale, thankfully) now look too wide for my hips, and the skirt was nearly falling off me. Not good. I must remember to try everything on before packing for my next work trip.
Bad-- went out to dinner with the family last night and totally totally totally overdid it. I had salad and a grilled shrimp skewer, but the appetizer and bread put me WAY over my RDI. It tasted good but wasn't nearly worth the calories. Boo. Let this be a lesson to me.
Good-- haven't seen the 200s pop back on my scale, though this morning was higher than my last low. I didn't record it for several reasons, but I will put in a new weight (even if it's higher) on Tuesday when I am back home.
Drew and I had a ball at the baseball game tonight. He is sleeping soundly in our hotel room as I type this, and then we are up super early (OK, not early for the likes of DK and Posterboy) for the ferry tomorrow. I love that little man. He got compliments in the train for his good manners, which always makes mom proud. I really emphasize good manners because it makes spending time with little ones so much more enjoyable, though I feel for parents with kids who are being bratty... Mine sure know how to push buttons.
On the happiness scale, I give work a 6, family an 8, and self an 8 also. Things are good, they could be better, but I do need to count my blessings and not get derailed by little annoyances. A few things I am thankful for:
Getting out of town during very hot weather in Portland My neighbor (age 15), who comes over to fold laundry and vacuum for me for a couple of hours each week (I left DH a nice clean house to come home to) Beautiful weather and surroundings in Seattle, and a good forecast for our bike trip tomorrow My FS friends Sparkling water, which kicks my soda craving with zero calories Being able to do physical things (we walked 1.5 miles from the ballpark to the hotel, and for a good chunk of that I had 40-lb Drew on my shoulders AND had a 25-lb backpack)
By the way, on Wednesday, I went kayaking on the spur of the moment and went all the way around Lake Union in Seattle in 2 hours. I swear I saw Jake Gyklenhaal or his hottie doppelgänger on a yacht, Yum. I felt so strong paddling, just cruising through the water on my own steam!!

It sounds like your trip is going well. Kayaking is something I always wanted to try but was afraid I wouldn't fit into it. I have spent a lot of time in Victoria, my sister in law and neices and nephews live there, and it is a beautfil city.

I probably shouldn't be posting anything since I've been so undisciplined about my efforts lately; however, there was a time when I was toatally dedicated to my plan, so I'm going to say this anyway :-D I don't record increases. Period. It's just negative and discouraging so I don't do it. I make adjustments and wait until I can record a drop. (I hope my spelling and punctuation are OK. Sheesh, commenting on a writer's post...what am I thinking??? LOL)

Hmm, the "ugly" was good in its own way; it's always good to get to small for your clothes (though not so much new dressy clothes) Too bad you didn't have time to visit Nordstrom Rack before work,
Your bad was an anomaly, a learning moment. It sounds like you've been burning lots of calories with all your great exercise you've been doing. Victoria will be a great time fore more. Just avoid chocolate shops, Tiger Tiger ice cream (my downfalls when I was there), and too many sweets at high tea, and you'll do fine.
Your good should be even better on Tuesday because you'll get so much fun exercise that a momentary lapse won't register as a gain on the scale.
You're a good mom. I'm looking forward to hearing about Drew at high tea or the museum. I must live vicariously through friends, since my only son is a lovable but mischievous 2 1/2 year old cat that thinks he's the king of this castle. :o)
BTW, the Pilots beat #4 North Carolina last night, 1-0. Pilots are unranked this year for the first time. We had four Olympians there last night; Christine Sinclair, Sophie Schmidt, Tiffeny Milbrett, and Stephanie Cox; all former Pilots women's soccer players.

HOW are clothes being too big UGLY???? You are rocking with that...I try not to think of my food as good or bad or even the choices as good or bad...just either on the plan or off the plan - sometimes plans go astray! You are doing the best and enjoying your life. Drew is a lucky little guy this weekend! I ove to canoe and kayak but just have not gotten to do any this past summer - missing it!

@fatoldlady the hardest thing about kayaking is getting your butt into the boat (you sit down on the dock and kind of hoist yourself in). If you can comfortably lift yourself on your arms (think: holding yourself seated, butt a few inches above the chair), then you can do it. Go with someone who doesn't think it's a race. And ask for paddling tips, because being efficient works better than being strong (just ask my ex!)
@Deb-- no apologizing!! I love hearing from buddies no matter their writing style and no matter their fitness accomplishments (or lack thereof). I was feeling pretty poor about not exercising for two whole weeks, but I am back on the wagon now. Anyway, I like your point about not recording, and it is part of why I skipped recording. One reason I track a few ups is the fact that I am learning that my body fluctuated with TOM, and I like to know about it.
Victoria is awesome so far, indulged in high tea and will definitely be getting fro-yo tonight.
Drew had awesome manners (for a 4 year old) and we rode our bikes about 2 hours along the beach road.

Sounds all good to me, too, but of course, you're the one living your life, so you get to decide, :) I LOVE that you're teaching your children manners and good behavior. So many children, nowadays (adults too, for that matter) are quite simply, a horror! WTG, MOM!
