there were a lot of veggies in the csa bag that needed to be used up so this morning i got up at 7 to watch the Olympic men's basketball gold medal match (go USA!)then made a big pot of shrimp and turkey sausage gumbo and some brown rice to go with it. i think i must be a little crazy to be making soup when it's 115 degrees outside, but i had all these veggies (tomatoes, corn, onions, celery, okra, parsley, scallions, hatch chiles) that i really needed to use up so there you go. that's it for me, no more cooking today. something i really enjoy doing here on FS is reading journal entries. it gives me perspective when i see all the different stages of weight loss. some people are already at goal weight and maintaining wonderfully. i kinda envy them. others are nearly there, halfway there or just beginning. there are happy upbeat people who share their positive attitude and experiences with others. that is so awesome. there are people who share personal experiences with all of us who make me feel ashamed to ever complain about my life because they have overcome so much and are still going strong. then there are people who are discouraged and ready to give up because they are making no real progress or have such a long way to go. i wish i could tell them that life is measured in moments, that it's okay to fail as long as they don't give up. we all have bad days (weeks, months, years), but we are all still here, still fighting for ourselves and our health. we all matter. we are all important. today i am grateful for everything good that has ever happened to me. i'm in that kind of mood. thank you all you FS journalers. you are inspiring to me.

You're not the only crazy person who cooks in the heat. I made two huge pots of pea soup in 100 degree weather. Reading journals sure gives you a different perspective on life.
