Got out of work early and went to mom's. She called earlier and I said I couldn't talk cause I was working and she said, "You're always working anymore." She sounded very sad and lonely. I was trying to be nice and care about her feelings. That didn't work out so good. Round 1...mom
When I left, I was in a foul mood and headed to the gym instead of a drive-thru to shove food in my face or home to wallow in my 'mood'. I knew tomorrow I would regret eating out and that I would be swollen and have joint and muscle pain from it. Round 2...me.
Had no clue what to do since it wasn't a training session. My legs still hurt from Sunday, so I thought...arms. But still had no clue what to do. UGH! I piddled around and did some stuff, got a light sweat going, heart rate up (not drastic like on Sundays) and decided to come home since I was tired anyway. Round 3...tie.
So after my shower, I'm trying to figure out what the heck to do for dinner. I SHOULD eat a salad (insoluble fiber) but really not in the mood for one. So I'm looking in the freezer and I find...Trader Joe's chicken/veggie potstickers...I see an orange on the counter...I remember my ginger dressing...I know it won't take long to cook rice...I HAVE DINNER! Round 4...ME!
HOLY CRAP...let me just tell you how delicious this was!! I think I said this the other day...but I will never make jasmine rice again with out fresh minced garlic and a little salt. I used chicken broth instead of water this time. Made the potstickers like directions said, but with butter not oil. When they were brown, added juice from one orange and some ginger dressing, turned to low and covered. I had to add a little broth near the end to deglaze. I had a low-sodium day and this made up for it. I'm gonna make sure I have my own potstickers in the freezer from now on (like the one's my nephew little j and I made-youngest brother of big J in the Army). Here is the result...YUMMY! This broke my meat-free week, but I've ate less meat than normal. Matter of fact, I think eggs break me out. I understand there is a particular protein in them that does this to some people...yippee. :-/
I'm calling today a win since I got the rounds ended up 2/1/1. Me and my happy tummy are headed to bed early to read my thyroid book. Hope everyone else had a winning day!

Wow - I love this! Great work on improvising dinner - what happened to the lentils and rice dish? Ran out? Sounds yummy those potstickeres. I amke a vegggie and shrimp stirfry and the base is Trader Joe's Mango Butter - it melts in the fry pan like a sweet and sour sauce. Ummm

Wow! Even through emotional stress you were able to slay the demons from the past. Meaning the gym vs. The drive thro.
Hopefully you give yourself a Pat on the back for accomplishing and overcoming the negative forces!
You rocked it out girl!! Woohoo!!!

I had the lentils and rice for lunch-there's enough of that to eat every day. The quinoa pasta/peppers/alfredo/pesto is limited-for M-W-F. I may make this again on Thursday, but now I have to get another orange..haha! Seems I always cook the tastiest and satisfying meals when I look around my kitchen and put together what I think will work. Makes sense, cause I'm making what I like, not following a recipe.

Thanks pam-u-la! I was able to bring forward the consequences of my choices and the obvious was feel good and not swollen the next day. If I can do this each time I am faced with an emotional issue or craving, then I should do a lot better.
