Another hot one today; projecting a heat index upward of 108F. After today, it is supposed to cool off some - in the high 90's. :) I hooked up the trailer last night, and pulled it into work this morning. I'm going to pick up some railroad ties at the home improvement store tonight after work. I've decided to use them to frame in the kids playground. Since there is at least 6 ft. of empty space surrounding the swings and anything they could jump off of, they should be plenty safe.
Last night, the friends, for whom I had been mowing the lawn, dropped over, bearing gifts - a chocolate pie and a rhubarb pie. When will it ever end! :D Topped with lots of whipped cream as well. I have some of the chocolate pie in my lunch today. Aw, come on! You'd do the same thing. :) We will probably send most of it home with the kids though. I really can't eat that much sweets, but if it's there in front of me, I am a quick learner! So, off it goes! BTW, I told them that I had made a belated anniversary present for them as well, and I gave them the two pens. They seemed to like them really well.
Didn't run today; I wanted to get on the road a little earlier, since I was pulling the trailer. I should be able to get in a decent run in the morning. Hopefully, it will be a little cooler then anyway. It was almost 80F already at 6:00 this morning. I'll probably weigh in Friday, after I've given this chocolate pie a chance to work its way through my system.
DW is starting to talk about possibly doing things and going places when I start vacation on the 28th of this month, so that is a good sign. She's not done with chemo yet, but she isn't so sick that she's not interested in doing things. She had another treatment yesterday; she's starting to look forward to the treatment days as a day to spend with DD.
Well, enough rhetoric for now. Back to work. Toodles!

Nice, love it when people bring us sweets and treats. It is just the thing to do I guess. Uhg, the holidays. I am sure you know there is creosote, and other stuff on RR ties. Just think about it. I would be more concerned if they were used, on what may have leaked on them in their course of history. Of course they were mainstays in the playgrounds we played in and we are fine, lol. Sometimes your damned if you do and damned if you dont.

Yep; at night, we can light them on fire (the ties, not the children), and let the adults run through them. You see them as parking lot boundaries at almost all the state and federal parks. People sit on them and walk on them. According to an article I read, older used ties used in landscaping no longer give off vapors and are not a hazard to the respiratory system. Their biggest danger is leaching into the ground water. I don't think that's going to be an issue where I live.
