kpkeri's Journal, 11 July 2012

I dont normally record journal entries but I feel like I need some suggestions! I have decided to go low-carb and stay under 100g per day. That is defiantely do-able since I can still have some fruit and low-calorie sauces. However, I am finding hard to keep my calories up. I really don't like going below 1000 calories a day especially since I exercise most days. Any suggestions on low carb snacks, besides the usual veggies, meat, and nuts?

Personally, I can't think of any! But my idea of low carb is just limiting the amount of carbs I take in. For example, yesterday morning I had whole wheat toast with scrambeled eggs, and with my turkey veggie stir fry for dinner I had half a pita pocket. I only have the serving sizes of carbs and I try not to have AS much. Because usually, you don't feel satisfied if you don't have enough of carbs. Instead of limiting yourself, why don't you just make a life style change with only having the serving size of pasta, limiting your break intake and just making healthy choices. That way, you won't gain back any weight when you decide to have carbs again. you know?

Good idea. I have a weight goal in mind for a beach trip in 4 weeks but slowly introducing small amounts of carbs back in and keeping it as a lifestyle change is a great idea for after my beach trip. Thanks for the suggestion!

(I hit send too soon.) It's kind of hard because if something is low carb, it tends to be high calorie. Low calorie seems to mean high carb. But it can be done! I found this after doing a quick Google search: http://www.webmd.com/diet/feat... Some of the ideas that I gave you above come from it.

I agree atriel2! I eat so many carbs in an attempt to stay low calories and I think that is why I can't lose these last 10 pounds. I'm hoping this low carb thing will kick start me and I have so far been ok staying under 1400 calories. I am even having trouble getting my calories up! I have just trained myself for years to look at calories so unless its a cheat day, I can't even bring myself to look at bacon or peanuts (which are low carb). Thanks for the suggestions!

I like protein shakes/smoothies for snacks, that way I up my protein and don't take in too many carbs. Good luck!!
