BuffyBear's Journal, 09 July 2012

In spite of all my complaining I had a pretty nice weekend - had lots of good food and finally caught up on my sleep!

DH is making good progress on putting up his new garage. And when the new garage is done, guess who gets to keep her car in the old garage? Oh yes, do I have plans for totally moving into that space!

Tracy - We are busting a doorway from the kitchen into the old garage. Then all my mops, pet supplies, etc. will be going in there. This will mean my kitchen cupboards can actually be used for storing kitchen supplies! And, the best part, I won't have to go out into the weather to get to my car! Yes, I am excited.

I would be excited too!! That sounds fantastic - I do miss my car being in a garage - they stay so much cleaner and winter is a dream with no snow and ice - and exciting to getting more space in the kitchen too :)

Tracy - it is a well know fact that "junk will expand to fill any available space". I've promised myself that I will not use my new garage to store junk!

Nice on the new garage space. You should be excited, this is MAJOR! Hope it gets finished quickly.

Buffy I learnt long time ago the only way to keep a garage free of junk, is to put cupboards in and laydown the rule of "if it doesn't fit in the cupboards it's not staying in here"....barring the car of course lol!!!

Heather - I am excited but have learned to curb it. It may be a long time before all this transpires!

Tracy - Good rule!

Glad you had a nice weekend Buffy, especially since you had to work for part of it. The new garage sounds wonderful! I just got my garage space back as my brother-in-law was storing his vintage Corvette in there while he had work done on his garage. It was in there for 6 long weeks, ugh! I love having my car in the garage, as Tracy mentioned it stays a lot cleaner and in the summer it stays a lot cooler too!

Well it sounds like you will be one happy camper when you get a garage all to yourself. That will be wonderful not having to go outside to get into the car, esp. in the rain. Do you get ice, too? You'll really enjoy not having to do all that scraping before getting in to go to work.

Sounds like a plan to me, not having to go outside in the rain or snow to get in your car is wonderful. Glad you had a good weekend.

That sure sounds like a great plan...win-win for everybody! We don't have an attached garage, I used to, & when the weather is yuck, I do still miss it then very much. BUT...I only get to park in the garage in the winter, summer all is spread out, pulled out & various projects are scattered here & there awaiting the finishing touches or, actually, I think the to-do section is much larger than the almost done.

I remember buying my new car thinking it would just take up the same space as the old one....wrong!! I HAD to sort out my 'treaures' and decide which I really needed and which had to go....didn't keep much...I did end up building a little shed though....just goes to show what a hoarder I am! Love the idea of kitchen to car in the dry awesome!

Carol - my situation is similar - right now the 68 Mustang is monopolizing the garage. Heaven forbid that it get wet!!!

Sandy - since I have to leave for work so early my foe is a big heavy layer of frost. When we get ice and snow I just don't go anywhere (because people in NC don't know how to drive in it!).

Notfast - yes, I am getting spoiled in my old age!

DiHappy - I have no idea how this junk accumulates. Every once in a while I force myself to walk through the house with a garbage bag and I don't allow myself to stop until the garbage bag is full.

GG - I'd be embarrassed to tell you haw long I've put off some of my "to do" items. Am hoping all the changes around here will inspire me to get other project done as well. Sometimes all it takes is a coat of paint.

Buffy, I would be so excited to have a garage that I could fit my car into! Ours is basically a pet apartment and golf cart storage! lol Have fun remodeling! :)
