I started my diet and exercise plan close to 3 weeks ago. I am now entering Week 3 of this plan. Recently, I started to get a little concerned because for 7 days, I stayed at the exact same weight even though I was exercising rigorously and eating small healthy portions throughout the day. Well, I had to find out what exactly was going on and so I did a little online research.
Although it is a well-known phenomenon - the "Plateau" - a lot of us tend to forget about it and when we begin a new plan we get discouraged right off the bat because "nothing seems to be working". Well, I found a link (posted below) that may serve as a helpful reminder that this halted weight loss is usually only temporary and we should keep on doing what were doing - eating healthy and exercising. Just know that you WILL get past this and your weight loss will resume (IF YOU STAY THE COURSE). Check out the link posted for a little encouragement. Reading this put my motivation in check. I know that I just have to get past Week 3 and things should fall right back into place! Good luck everyone.

P.S. I'm always looking for new buddies. I've joined the "40's with 25-50 lbs to Lose" and "Goal By Birthday" groups. Send me a buddy request!
See you around!

Hi, I have noticed that I seem to hit a plateau every other week. One week nothing & then the next week is about a 7lb loss. Maybe the exercise is just firming everything up?
Its also possible that you could be under eating as this was pointed out to me.
Thank you for the link and good luck.

Thanks for the insight - yes, I hope this is the case. I always hear how "muscle weighs more than fat" so I'm hoping that I will gradually become thinner as time goes on. I'm not giving up though - got too much of an important goal to reach by Christmas time!
