I just figured this out, and I'm pretty excited, since I'm too busy to cook, sometimes.

I spent 7 hour cleaning up my house yesterday, and I felt too exhausted to cook today. So instead, I went to McDonald's for a sandwich and some fries.

Here's how I managed it: I brought home a classic grilled chicken sandwich, no mayo, with lettuce, tomato, onions, and mushrooms. I also got a small fries. When I got home, I switched out McDonald's bun for my own Sara Lee "80 Calorie and Still Delightful" hamburger bun. I poured my fries out onto a plate (and the "small" still takes up 1/2 the plate!), put my sandwich on its new bun with all of the fixings and my barbeque sauce, squirted a little ketchup on the fries, and ouah-la: I ate what looked and tasted like an entire extra value meal, but was only 500 calories! It also had 31 g of protein, and, even better, I experienced no carb-coma afterwards! Smile

Way to go! I went there one day with my kids. (we don't go out to eat very often.. this this was a treat for all of us) I had a hamburger a small fry and a parfet (sp) and I think it was around 500 calories.

That is really good.. I will forsure do that. I sometimes treat the kids to the play place and I just drink an iced tea.. but I could bring my own bun and do the swap out as well. Thanks for sharing. Smile

I would have to ditch the fries though.. next to pb and J.. there is no food more deadly than MCD's fries for sending me on a food bender. Smile

or you could have just made it fit your daily calories and not have to make a franken-sandwich

I order a kids meal whenever I have a craving for McDonald's. Interestingly, I'm always full after the kids meal.

Just try not to go to McDonalds. Even though your calories were fine, you totally forget that they add sugar in nearly everything on their menu, and there´s tons of additives in it. If you´re going to grab some food quikly, then go to a sandwich-bar, they´re a lot healthier. I don´t know what sandwich-bars there are in the US, but in Denmark where i live there´s a place called "Anette´s Sandwich" (it´s as cheap as McDonalds, twice as tasty and ten times healthier).

But that was still a great way to save some calories Very Happy

I would have just grabbed a sub from subway for the same or bought a sub from the store with an apple and been done. I wouldn't have eaten the bread unless I really wanted it.

You can also get a subway sandwich as a salad - which totally takes bread out of the equation altogether, if a person is trying to avoid it.

If I'm too tired to think about cooking much, I scramble one egg, two egg whites, throw in a little ham or canadian bacon and top with a sprinkle of veggie shreds. I'm good to go and full when I'm done eating and it only takes a few minutes.

I love the kids meal.. I get the hamburger (plain) with fries and the apple slices with 1% white milk. it isn't TOO horrible. it does serve as a *decent* option when you are on the road.

Love to get a dipped cone or just straight vanilla cone. 270 and 150 calories respectively.

I *love* McDonalds, and when I am tired or lazy, I'll get a McDouble without cheese for dinner, which is a decent amount of calories for a dinner, around 350. But I find that even though I like the taste of other burgers better, I catch myself craving the McDonalds burger the next day... and the day after that... and the day after that. My brain is addicted to it somehow Surprised

Jimmy John's also makes an "unwich" - it's any of their sandwiches made with Boston lettuce as the "bread"
