Just wondering if there are any good websites where you enter your height, weight, sex to reveal what my goal weight should be? I am 5'5 and 235lbs but I have been going from 128 lbs to 275 lbs struggling since I am 14.

The old standard is 5' is 100 lbs and add 5 pounds for every inch over that. But only use it as a general guide.. I am only 4 lbs from the "ideal" weight of 5'5" 125 lbs according to this guide but knowing how my body is shaped I know I will have to end up weighing less to reach my goal hip size of 36 inches.. I'm 39 inches now and 128 lbs.. So everyone is different.. its a usefull guide to know what is a healthy weight but you may end up weighing more or less depending on your goals and individual body structure.

I'm 5' 10" tall. Are you saying my goal weight should be 150lbs? That seems very thin. When I was military, My ideal weight for 18 years of age was 175. I belive 185 would be best for me. I do have a goal of 190.

@Snipersteve It's more of a general guide for women of average fitness.. A man would weigh more naturally because they have more muscle..Your goal weight sound perfect for your height

Oops and I just assumed Janarsenault is a woman but there's a man in the profile pic if you're a man sorry for bad advice.. The Mayo clinic website has a customized BMI calculator specialized for your gender and age so you can see if you are in a healthy range..

That makes sense now. I actually looked up the military standards and I was close. I also guess the military wants their women a little larger....lol. A 5'5" woman can weigh 154lbs at age 25.

I am 5'6 and decided my goal weight would be 153, just inside the healthy BMI range. More importantly, I also have specific fitness goals about speed, strength and distance. I don't mind being heavier than someone who is sedentary and "skinny fat" (out of shape)!
I am not losing weight. I am gaining health. Since April 24, 2012:

The BMI calculation is kinder, at least for me.
According to "Traditional Ideal Weight calculator," I've only just begun, and according to how I would compare with the world, it would put me alongside starving nations. I may be small boned, but I don't want to look emaciated.
What will ultimately guide me? How I feel, what my lab results show, and advice from my doctor.
Then there's my husband... he's just happy to see a healthier me. Thank goodness he has an immunity to trophy wife syndrome!

To tell the truth when I looked at those tables I was amazed. I am 6"5 tall and weigh in at 165.8 lbs and 7.3% body fat. I think most people can go a lot lower than what they think they can. Certainly I never thought I could maintain such a low weight but thanks to living a Paleo lifestyle its no problem. Even going back to Freshman year in High school I weighed 180-190lbs. Find the range and then work within it depending on your goals. Good luck!
