OK. This is a totally embarrassing topic, but I really wish I had heard about this earlier, so I think it is worth spreading the word to other exercisers in this hot weather. This stuff has made it comfortable to walk and walk and walk in hot weather even in a skirt. No bike shorts required.

I have the dreaded thigh rub too. I can only run in capri or longer pants, none of those cute bright colored runners shorts.

Antiperspirant can work well for this as well. I'd recommend trying it before you buy a special product.

Funny that you mention that, Hoser. Men's Power Stick, available at the Dollar Tree, works as good as body lube for keeping the thighs from rubbing together. Women aren't the only ones that have to deal with this issue. Most of the time, when on a longer run, which I haven't had lately, I'll wear the spandex type undershorts, under my running shorts, to keep friction-ree. I'd almost forgotten that I used to use this stuff.

However, just because the anti-perspirant seems to work for me, I thought I might better look into the what others say about it:

"Aluminum-based compounds are used as the active ingredient in antiperspirants. These compounds form a temporary plug within the sweat duct that stops the flow of sweat to the skin's surface. Some research suggests that aluminum-based compounds, which are applied frequently and left on the skin near the breast, may be absorbed by the skin and cause estrogen-like (hormonal) effects (3). Because estrogen has the ability to promote the growth of breast cancer cells, some scientists have suggested that the aluminum-based compounds in antiperspirants may contribute to the development of breast cancer (3) . . . Because studies of antiperspirants and deodorants and breast cancer have provided conflicting results, additional research is needed to investigate this relationship and other factors that may be involved."

BTW, this quote is from the Fact Sheet at the National Cancer Institute.

These ingredients are NOT in Body Glide, which contains the following ingredients: Active Ingredients: Allantoin (Comfrey Root) (Skin Protectant)

Inactive Ingredients: Aloe Vera (Aloe Barbadensis) Extract, C18 36 Acid Triglyceride, Capric/Caprylic Stearic Triglyceride, Tribehenin, Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E)
