Help!
I am quite sedentary right now because I am recovering from surgery on my lower leg.
I have tried to cut my calories down because I know I am not working them off however are there any other tips? Has anyone tried using meal or protein shake supplements?
I just know that I need to do something with my diet like shakes because I can't get the exercise and calorie burning in since I am still recovering.
Luckily since surgery I haven't gained weight!
Thanks - any tips will help!

I use meal supplements and protein drinks. I recently had stomach surgery and can't workout either, very frustrating. I gained 5 lbs back from what I lost previously. Good luck

Find out your maintenance calories by meticulously tracking your calories for two weeks while tracking any weight fluctuations. I personally would stick to less calorie dense foods instead of any type of shakes as I'm guessing your caloric maintenance would be quite low due to being sedentary.

Honestly, I almost get no exercise too. I suggest eating as close to your BMR as possible...because you are not getting any exercise
What is your BMR?

Westmar, you could do some upper body exercise -- Also when I had major leg surgery ages ago I did alot of leg lifts (thigh to ankle brace), mini sit ups, worked my good leg as much as I could.
Personally I can't do much right now either as I am getting over (I hope) pneumonia with asthma along with it so it's really hard to breathe.

If you have a gym membership there are cardio options that you can do without your injured leg. I sprained my ankle badly and was unable to put any weight on it, so I used an Octane xFit, a machine that was essentially a recumbent elliptical, using my arms and left leg, and did spinning classes with an upper body "bike" that you sit on and use your hands to spin the pedals in front of you. I think it's called an arm ergometer or a Krank.

I am a Beach body coach and this is one of their products that would be perfect. This is a great supplemental shake

Best time for doing exercise, morning or night?
I prefer to exercise in the morning too. Partly because by the time evening rolls around, I'm worn out (two toddlers will do that to you) and partly because I just know me. If I get up at 5:30am, ...
